I always struggled with red lunches, but here are a few suggestions: fish (kippers, sardines, smoked haddock, tuna etc), sausages (quorn are free on red, and some low fat sausages are low in syns),

....some sausages are even totally free on a red. They are either Morrisons brand or a brand available from Morrisons. I remember cos MrsA used to go there to get them
    Lois_Lane wrote: »
p.s. not all veg are free on red, but a good rule of thumb is to avoid anything beginning with 'p' - e.g. peas, pulses, potatoes, and parsnips!

not peppers though..... they are thoroughly encouraged :D

Thanks Lois and Ajax - I'm taking DS into town today so I'm going to the bagel bar for a chicken salad for lunch. I'll sort dinner out later.

The only problem with getting syn free sausages from morrisons is that we don't have any. Plenty of tesco, sainsbury and even an asda or two (none within 30 miles of me though) but no morrisons or waitrose!
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.

Sainsbury's Be Good to Yourself, less than 3% fat sausages are 1 syn each.

Another Saturday of doing the washing by hand awaits... I thought I'd try the MSE trick of just leaving the washing machine for a week to see if it would fix itself :p It got halfway through a timesaver wash cycle and then packed up again! Soggy washing now. Never mind.

2850 Ajax just to maintain!!! I can't even maintain properly on 1200 dammit!

FFM - proud of you m'dear! Just need to remove the bit in brackets next time ;) My 'supersize' breakfast consisted of 2 slices of toast with marmite and a Muller Vitality yoghurt drink. 29% of daily intake if all goes to plan today. Can you believe those 2 things account for nearly a THIRD of my total daily intake!!!

Anyway I don't feel 'totally stuffed' but I am not hungry yet :D

Well done again Kymrob, every week you report in with an amazing loss. I'd love to hear more from you if you ever get chance to join in some of the chat during the week :)

FFM & Pet even with my current BMI 19.9 I am on the border of underfat on the body fat % chart. I'm guessing the difference between, say, BMI 17.5-18.5 and what I am is either muscle or bigger/heavier frame? Do you two have a very petite frame? I could take off ALL my body fat (which is impossible!) and I'd still be BMI 16.5 :rotfl:

Have a good weekend everyone :)

.... OI! Don't rub it in lol. That's only the case cos I'm a fat bloater and you're a slender wee thing :rotfl:

OMG, I just stumbled across this site. www.telebid.com It's a genius money-making semi-scam for the organisers but it's a stupidity tax for the numpties who go on it. You place bids on items, but each bid costs you 50p and the items go up in 7p increments. So a Nintendo Wii selling for £70 has already attracted:
1000 bids x 50p = £500. Add the selling price and the site's £180 quid outlay on a Wii nets them £570. I just totalled up what the site had made since 6:00 this morning - over £13,000 :rotfl:

They are doing that with everything - games, homewares, even cash (although there is a strategy there ;)). Oh how I love the Jeremy Kyle brigade :rotfl:

Anyway, I've decided to try a couple of red days this weekend, but here's the rub, I don't like bacon and can't eat eggs..question for all you slimming worlders.. does anyone have any suggestions for meals? More specifically lunch and dinner as I don't mind using a heA & heB for breakfast cereal.?
delly - I'll just outline some of my red meals: if any appeal let me know and I'll write the recipe in full:
    1. see my moroccan stew in the recipe section - ajax can confirm it is delish (is in fact a ww recipe but is only 2.5 syns on sw) serve with grilled lamb steaks. Make double quantity and freeze half.
    2. curry with meat, onion, carrot, aubergine, 28g saltannas (total meal 4 syns)
    3. cottage pie but instead of the potato topping cook celeriac and swede and carrot and mash when cooked - absolutely delicious and all free
    4. pork stew adapted from delia - pork (diced or chops), 56g chorizo sausage \9very flavoursome and 2.5syns each)with roast peppers, corgette, garlic worcester sauce. Serve with mashed roast quash cooked with herbs and seasoning.
    5. chicken dopiaz - cut up and skin whole chicken with chopped onions and toms and 3 diff spices & yoghurt 0 - currently cooking in my slow cooker, soo delish, serve with mashed celeriac.
    6. same roast idea as lois
    7. ratatouille with meat portion of choice
I find meat without carb side portion really fills me up and I never miss it.
    Luches to follow shortly...
FFM big well dones on posting your gain:T . And huge welldones for recognising that your bmi was below the healthy guidelines:T .Keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing the breakfast results.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

    lunches for red days delly:
    1. recipe with lentils, feta, mint jelly, roast pepper 4.5 syns on a red day if use lentils as HEb, 1 on green. Very good for packed lunch, totally delish. Needs to be prepped night before.
    2. salad of ham (never touch the wafer thin stuff myself), 42g half fat mauture cheddar cubed(HEa) chopped apple, toms spring onions.
    3. 227g baked pot(heb) with buckets of cottage cheese and half cheddar cheese allowance on top with salad.
    4. baked aubergine with tom puree, sliced cheese and toms on top - .5 syn for puree. delish
    5. fritata (pastryless flan) with ham, corgettes, cheese, eggs spring onions. Works well cold for a packed lunch too.
I tend to have free breakfasts of: red day - piece of fish from freezer wacked in microwave with poached egg (I also have a small bit of bochli with this). Green day - quorn burger with poached egg.
    Or sardines on HEb toast.

    Hope this helps

    bb

Puree is synned?? Bb would passata be free on red instead of puree? If you wanted a slight variation delly, I dunno if you spotted this a few weeks ago? http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=11532311&postcount=383

Puree is .5 syn for 1 level tblsp (so this recipe should be .5 syn not 1). Passata would not replace for me ajax - you smear the puree on a half a aubergine 0- it gives an intensity of flavor - passata would be much weaker and dribble all over the place. You then layer 42g half fat mature cheddar on top an finish with slice tomato. I am happy to use small amounts of syns for intesity of flavour. I also have another aubergine dish (Imam byaldi), but this one was quick and simple.
Interesting article on breakfast cereals here:

.....ahhhh, thank ya! I'm clear now - the way you do it could feasibly be finger-food whereas if you tried that with mine you'd have a KPC very messy T-shirt incident :D

Bb that's a quite fascinating article on the history of cereal, and had I seen it yesterday, I may have had toast this morning instead of Weetabix. It was disappointing to read this though......

"Kellogg turned it into the famous Battle Creek Sanitarium, where he set about devising cures for what he believed were the common ills of the day, in particular constipation and masturbation."

.....I can only be grateful that Kellogg failed, for my day would be pointless without my two favourite pastimes!!
