OOh CHALKY I .love the wearing purple poem,I got a little tiny book copy of it on the car boot last week.I too felt at a lose end when my DD left home at 18 to go to uni, but it's great now:j :j No more being woken up at 4am when she comes in:D

LOOPY many ((HUGGLES)) hun, I had the same thing many years ago, so know what it's like
PENPIN get well wishes to you, and good luck to the runners today, you have my full admiration:T :T :T
Was going to a car boot today, then visiting Dad, but it looks like rain, so might chill out and watch PS I love you

Have great Sundays everyone xxx"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

ps here's the poem Chalky mentioned:WARNING!

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other peoples' gardens
And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickles for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Good luck runners!!!
Rainy day here but have smile on my face as going out for lunch for our anniversary.
Off to take OH a cup of tea and toast (yes, the lazy-bones has just woken up - mind you, I woke at 10!!)
Have a good day all

Hi all - back with a cuppa.
Good luck to Shez and Weeping River in the Race for Life.
(((Hugs))) to Loupy Lou - glad you're feeling better.
Aussie - good luck to your sister; I'm glad she finally has a date for the op.
Chalky and Candygirl - I love that poem; I printed it off in a fancy font, decorated the edges with gold leaf and framed it for my Mum's 75th birthday - she loved it! I love the words to it - it always reminds me of her.
Chalky - I hope the hurt eases between your DD and DS. I have at least 150 favours to make (the RSVPs aren't all in yet!) I have all the materials and all the ideas but have yet to make even one! On top of that, it's my DS1's anniversary on Thursday and I intend to make them some favours as well; they got married abroad last year so I didn't get involved in any of the catering because the wedding planners did it all. I picked up six fabric covered wire champagne 'glasses' recently so two of them will be for DS2 and his new wife and two of them I am using for DS1's and DIL's anniversary and the other two will be used in September to celebrate the thirty years since DH and I met! I have a lot to do!
TRU - I know exactly what you mean - I had my first at 19 and my second (and last) ten years later so it felt like forever! You spend years feeling as if you 'belong' to others - it's only since DS2 left home just over a year ago that I feel I have got myself back! I look back and wouldn't have changed a thing but you do put yourself on a 'back burner' for years, really, don't you? It's like being reborn when you can just take off without having to arrange for everything to go smoothly in your absence. Enjoy it - you've earned it over and over again!
Well, I've finished typing for w**k and am now about to do the ironing. The weather appears to be getting sunnier so fingers crossed for that. We're going to DS2's this afternoon and I'm looking forward to him and his bride-to-be looking after us for a change.
Hope everyone is having a good day.
See you later'

Morning all
I've only just got round to reading the rest of yesterdays thread, so hugs to Celyn, Loopy, Rage, PP, Mrs Mix & Smokey.
Shez, I didn't tell Aussie anything, I just want to know where she got that photograph of me from, Playboy magazine promised me they had destroyed all the copies.
Good luck to the Race for Life runners.
Tia went home last night & we really miss her already, but I really don't have the spare time/energy/money to have a dog of our own.
Hubby did more work in the garden yesterday so I must take more pics.
Back to work full time tomorrow so I need to do the last few bits of sewing & cleaning today, BIL has more work, but still nothing for hubby still fingers crossed something will turn up.
Have a good day.
Hugs Hester

Good Luck to all Race for Life Runners.
Well got up nice and early put two loads of washing out and have had to bring it all back in it's chucking it down. Cricket practice cancelled so my 3 DS have got the art box out and are being very creative with lining paper, glue, glitter, paint and collage stuff.
Roast beef and yorkshire pudding today, will do some baking whilst the oven is on and get the boys to help/hinder need to keep them occupied or they want to sit infront of a screen all day (like me:D )
Have a good day whatever your plans are.MFW 1/5/08 £45,789 Cleared mortgage 1/02/13

Good morning all:D
I was very lazy and didn't go to Church this morning, and haven't done anything else instead:o
What with Aussie stalking N9eave and Shez, and Haribo taking unauthorised pictures of me, well.................:rotfl:
I expect Shez is just about finished her run, don't remember if Weeping River said when she was running. It's stayed dry in London, though not overwarm.
DS3 and GF called in this morning, wanted to borrow our SatNav:rolleyes: As usual they turned up nearly an hour later than they said. Good job I didn't have a pressing engagement.
Happy Anniversary to the wmfs
I've just made a decision! I'm off to the garden centre, where DH can buy me lunch, and I can potter about for some plants to fill a few gaps that appeared in the winter:D
Bye for now, CM xYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
I've printed the poem, along with a new copy of A Prayer For The Stressed (my copy was old and tatty)

I've just had a phone call, asking if me and mr tru want to go surfing today
We've never surfed in our lives  Anyway, I said that mr tru is at work and I had a load of stuff to do - 'oh, so you have to do housewife things'. I've got no problem with the word 'housewife' but it was the way he said it - if I had a fancy high-flying job, I bet he wouldn't have been sarcastic.
What's the actual definition of housewife anyway?
I'm in paid employment (admittedly VERY part-time) and I run a small business. I also happen to do most of the housework and about half of the gardening.
Because I am lucky enough to be able to do both of my jobs from home, they seemingly don't count :rolleyes:Bulletproof0 -
I never planned to be seen as 'someone's something' but people like to label other people, don't they? Trouble is, you get used to it then all of a sudden you seem to have no identity of your own.
Tru, of course you have your own identity, you are a guinea pig breeder extraordinaire :T and an all round lovely person. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever
