Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 1st June, 2008 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything ski m through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Goodmorning everyone,
Pinch and punch, it's the 1st of the month. First day of winter over here. The weather wasn't too bad this morning so I did a Haribo and mowed the lawn.
It's come in all overcast now so I"m glad I did. The good thing about winter is that the grass etc slows down. It grows overnight in summer  and if you don't keep up the yard work it quickly turns into a jungle.
I'm glad those of you who went to lunch had a great time. Unfortunately VickyA got pulled up by N9eav & his buddy.

Granny I forgot to ask you, why is your DH over in Oz by himself. I hope you're behaving yourself.
Cat I didn't know you were visually impaired. <hugs>
Loopy I'm glad something positive has come out of your sad experience. Good foundations to try again.
Well DH has just arrived back, he was delivering our old mattress and a bed base we had in the shed that we will eventually use when we get the spare room built. But in the meantime XDIL can use it. Ninny day tomorrow. Will pop back later. Enjoy your Sunday. Byeeeeeeeeeeee

Morning Aussie and Kazwookie and all who follow
Went to bed at 9.30 last night feeling under the weather. Have had almost no sleep and feel even worse today. Desperate to sleep but can't so here I am.
Other than going to mass this morning and then the supermarket for the absolute minimum of stuff, I think I will do nothing today. Feels like a waste of a day but I can't face doing all the jobs I had lined up for the weekend.
Aussie love that pic. :rotfl:
Off to read yesterday's thread. xx"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

Morning.
Another day off for me. It's foggy this morning and quite muggy. I managed to get he grass cut yesterday, cleaned out the hen house and a few other jobs. I had a nice steak and jacket potato tea on the BBQ. I had to buy a new bottle of gas yesterday, which was almost £20... I forgot that gas would be going up as well.
Paid £37 to top up the car on the last remaining pump at Tesco as all the other pumps had run dry.
Church today and then off to buy some more eggs to hatch. Light Sussex this time.
Well folks have a nice dayNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Good morning to all who have posted and all who follow.
I had such a busy day yesterday that I hardly had time to come on here. We seemed to have a stream of visitors and lots of phone calls and many cuppas were made!
SMOKY - (((Hugs))) to you and the LOs.
PENPIN - I hope you continue to recover. (((Hugs))) to you.
MRS MIX - (((Hugs))) to you and your family.
BETH - I hope the op went well and that you are on the mend.
CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello: - I forgot your waves yesterday - sorry!
DS1 and his family returned from Iceland with great stories to tell of the earthquake that happened there in the middle of the week. They felt the ground move two to three feet under them although they were about four hours away! They had been at the actual eathquake spot the day before. There were no fatalities because, unlike lots of countries, Iceland is prepared for such things and everything is constructed to very high standards. Anyway, I was delighted to have them back home safe and sound.
i think we have been invited for Sunday dinner at DS2's - he texted me last night but, by the time I noticed the text, it was too late to call him back. I do hope the invitation still stands! I'll have to phone them a bit later. The motivation for the invite is that he wants DH to help him fit a cat flap!
Well, after a lovely day yesterday it's raining now; it's not very hard so it may clear up later, hopefully.
One of my tasks today is to make an anniversary card for DS1 and DIL - I can hardly believe that, on Thursday, it will be a year since were were all at Lake Garda for their wedding! Time passes so quickly - it's only just over two months to DS2's wedding in August (and I still have at least 150 favours to make!).
Oh, well, I'm off to put the kettle on so will catch up with you all later. Have a great Sunday.

have a good day everyoneI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
good morning. looks like it is going to be a nice day. I had such a lazy, you could say almost wasted, day yesterday. but I needed the rest

I did look at house insurance quotes. our renewal quote is way off the going rate so will not be renewing unless they come up with something special when I phone to cancel.
today will make a start on the overflowing washing basket. will pop to somerfield to get something for tea. Asda will be too busy today. will do proper shop for the rest of the week tomorrow when its quieter and I can concentrate.
rest of day will spend in garden I think.
hope those who are sad or unwell feel better today.
Good luck with your nursing essays Chante. I just got the feedback form from my last nursing essay
no idea what they want sometimes! we asked for guidance on numbers of references they wanted, they said "enough"....and my feedback said I'd used too much.. sometimes you feel like you can never win with them! if you ever need any help give me a shout. x x x0 -
Thanks Dogrose, I know what you mean about knowing what they want in them?? I often wonder if they themselves know he he he0

Loopy - hugs for you. It's happened to me, too. My friends were very supportive. You may well find, as I did, that most of them have been through the same.
I treated myself to a cast iron chiminea yesterday so can't wait for that to arrive.
There's been a slight drizzle overnight, it's now slightly overcast, so I'm hoping for a scorcher later
We spent yesterday afternoon helping a friend build a chicken run. DH had designed it and bought the timber and wire, so 3 adults and DS (aged 13) built it. DS was a :A He volunteered to help, didn't moan, and we had to drag him away at the end. Our friend's DH had made us a beautiful veggie curry for supper (about 8 dishes), and she insisted on paying DS. So with the money I'd given him when he'd offered to mow the lawn yesterday morning, he was quids in :T I think he's been bored , and will be glad to go back to school - he's not seen many people this holiday as many of them have been on a school trip.
DD did a Treaure Hunt yesterday with Explorer Scouts, ending with a barbeque and night's camping. She and 2 friends have bought their own small tent, so I hope tht was good. We're collecting her later this morning.:A Go Shez! :A
She's running the Race For life today :j
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Morning those up there and those below.
First day off today so plan to do a bit of a shop ( sticking strictly to the list
) and then the day is free to do as we please. Funny you have to think about trips now what with the price of fuel. Terrible isn't it
Hugs to those that require them and hope you all have a lovely Sunday
Bit overcast down here nearer the equator
. Hope it brightens up tomorrow as I have a golf comp.
Super Sunday to you all0
