    Thanks for the advice guys
I am going to go for it, if we don't go out today I will definitely set off to nursery in the morning without a pullup on! On Molly, not me of course lol

I've been told before to carry a potty or potette around with me but I don't see how we'd be able to use it on a busy bus, there's often barely room to lean down to pick up something they've dropped let alone get her out of the buggy and sit her on a potty then deal with the contents of it. I dread to think the things people would say about it too lol!

I think I will get some of the bed mat things or travel changing mats and then line the seat of the pushchair with a blanket so she doesn't see the mat.

I know I'm silly for having put if off for so long but if you saw the amount of stuff I have to take with me already every day (all my uni stuff, library books, lunch, girls lunch bag, bag of tricks for the bus, any spare clothes and Megans nappies needed at nursery) you'd understand why I am hesitant to have to carry even more clothes etc around with me :p

Wish us luck and thankyou again

I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?

Good luck, I don't think people can ever judge when they don't know the full situation. We are all different and do things differently. What is right for one, isn't necessarily right for another. With regards to the bus, can you not get her to use the potty just before or after you get on/off the bus? I agree that using a potty on the bus will be an impossibility so try and avoid the need for using it. Well done you for persevering with a uni course, it sounds like you go through a lot to get there every day so I admire that. :D

Well we went out about 11ish. Molly refused to use the toilet or potty before we set off despite having not been ALL morning. Explained to her that she wasn't wearing a pullup so if she did need a wee she had to tell us and give us time to get to a toilet. Off we went, kept asking if she needed a wee, she kept saying no. Went for lunch about 12ish and I really wanted her to use the loo while we were somewhere that had one. It was very dark in there though and she's petrified of hand driers! (she's not a complete wierdo,honest...) She kept going in and out of the toilets and she was dithering about like an old woman and did admit she needed a wee so after awhile I just pulled herpants down and sat her on the loo and knelt in front of her holding on. She did a wee and was so pleased with herself and she got lots of praise.

Unfortunately she then proceeded to wee on the floor at the Early Learning Centre as she got carried away playing on a keyboard...and she'd had a big drink with her lunch. Oops. Can't win 'em all!

    Hi,

Our little one is 2 on the 25th november.

We have started toilet training, but skipped the potty idea. After all mummy & daddy dont sit on the potty. Doubt one of mums cheeks would fit on the potty ;).

We picked up one of them inner toilet seats and away we go. A little step to get onto the toilet, but pretty much every night for a few hours we have the trips to the toilet.

He loves hand driers, well loves washing his hands, then using the hand driers.

We do have random suprises now and then, finding random brown balls on the floor, but the times are becoming less frequent and he wants to wee like daddy..

    kids eh...

im sure if will come good soon..

Bless her!!! They all have accidents (especially when getting carried away with playing lol!). Well done you for atking the plunge, half of it is our psychological barriers!!! A potette would make it even easier for you when you are out though, it just fits over the toilet so they can sit on it comfortably! Then just use it as a potty if out and about.
Your daughter is not alone, my daughter hates hand driers too - the first thing she says when we go into public toilets is "no one will use the drier will they!!) :D
  • My DS age 3 has finally got the hang of using the toilet for a wee, however if he needs to poo then he refuses to use the toilet.

He will leave the room and shut the door behind him and then 5 minutes later will shout " Mummy I've pooed, come and clean it up"! Don't I know my place! :rotfl:

As soon as he dissapears out of the door I will follow him and try to encourage him to use the toilet but he refuses and will just hold it in.

He is fairly regular and always goes before bedtime, last night he got really upset and asked for a nappy on so that he could go, I have to admit that I did put a nappy on him! I know that this is not the way forward and will not be doing it again, its just that he gets so upset if we try to encourage him to use the toilet for his poo's that I don't want him to be frightened of the toilet although he is fine when he wants to wee?!?

Does anyone have any tips or ideas to encourage him to poo on the toilet?

Sorry if this is a bit graphic! :o

    Hi joanne!

Have you tried a star chart? We used one with my DD when we were first potty training her as she was doing wee's in the toilet but tended to poo in her pants. We used to get her to put the starts on herself and when she got 3 in a row she would get a treat. It worked really quickly but I have been told that girls tend to get on better than boys-don't know if this is true though! Apart from that I am so sorry I don't know what else to suggest. My friends wee boys are the same as yours, they seem to get on better doing wee's but it takes a while for them to do poo's in the potty so don't worry that he is the only one.

I'm sure someone else will come along with maybe a better suggestion. Good luck x

Hi, as he goes just before bedtime can you try reading a bedtime story wile he sits on the loo? Get him to sit there for a wile. Give lots of praise and see if he wants a reward like a cheep bath toy. Show BIG dissaproval if he does it in his pants.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

    chocolate! :D
My DS was exactly the same. If I didn't put a nappy on him, he'd just poo in his pants. I bought a big tin of chocolates (one of the many xmas ones on offer...heros I think) & told him he could choose one for each poo. Within 2 weeks he was pooing on the loo & the tin was empty. He took me quite literally, & was often found with his head peering down the loo counting the number of poos ...3 big ones and 2 little ones mummy! :D:D

No No No! I'm sorry but this horrified me. Reluctance to poo on the toilet is very common amongst toddlers it's to do with the feeling which is harder to adjust to than weeing. It is incredibly easy to turn a phase or slight reluctance into a big, big problem if you show disapproval, punishment or over react in any way

Gentle encouragement as you have been doing and masses of praise if he even gets near the loo. Even maybe sitting on but then being unable to actually do the poo in the toilet and backing out at the last minute.

Obviously you don't want to praise him for pooing in his pants but please do not punish or overreact. Just be calm and try not to give it too much attention. Keep up the positive efforts to get him to the toilet, but don't make it a big deal and he will get there.
