    Good morning everyone :hello:

Well, it's been a really busy half term for me. I've been visiting friends with babies over the past couple of days. I honestly don't know how you lot with children do it. The friend yesterday had her baby 2 weeks ago and I could see that she was practically on her knees with the baby having colic. He was gorgeous when he was asleep............ which wasn't much of the time!

Yesterday involved a trip up to York to see the friend. I decided that instead of taking my car and sitting on the A1 in roadworks for 3 hrs, I'd let the train take the strain. It was really easy and only took me 1hr 15mins. The longest part of the journey, timewise, was travelling by bus into Peterborough! Typical! I did manage to squeeze in a little bit of shopping time before returning by train and getting picked up by DH!

We're also having "problems" with my grandma. She has dementia and my parents have just gone on holiday. They have eventually got social services involved, who have been wonderful and said that they'd try to find a carer to pop in and give her lunch. Apparently she's no where near bad enough to think about putting her into a home (although I do wonder how much worse she has to get). Anyway, no carer was found but a place in a respite care home has been. My brother took grandma to the home on Wednesday and yesterday he got a call saying that she was wanting to come home. He's been told that she's generally fine when he's not there, chatting to other people etc. I find it so upsetting because I can imagine how frightening it must be to someone who doesn't really understand what's going on - and she hasn't spent a night out of the village for the past 20 years until now. However, me going up to look after her is not an option I'm afraid and my brother needs to keep the business going whilst my parents are on holiday.

    Sorry for the moan.

On a lighter note, I've sold a book on Amazon, which needs packaging and then I can post it.......... Before spending an afternoon of planning for next week.

I'm going to London tomorrow to have lunch with friends  before going with another friend to watch Boyzone at the O2 arena.

Anyway, I need to get myself sorted otherwise I'll miss the post!

    morning all,

Overcast here again, it poured with rain all night, garden looks waterlogged  , dd had her friend sleeping over last night, goodness knows what time they were up till, I came down at three and they were asleep, so I got them up at 8.30 this morning :D , they were not best pleased, friend is a nice girl, very polie, although I have never met her mother, and she has not even phoned to see if she is ok, perhaps I am too protective, but i never let DD sleepover untill I have met the parents a couple of times.

We are off to portsmouth today shopping, DD has saved up £25 for clothes, I don't need anything, maybe some new knickers, but might pop into homebase on the way home for some pots.

Beth, good luck for your op today, and hugs to your DB xx

Smoky, mrs mix, candy and pen pin, hugs to you all xx

Fizel, sounds like the shower door just needs screwing back up x

    Morning everyone
the weather is really dull and miserable here at the moment, it has rained quite a lot in the night and sometimes it was really heavy but it`s stopped for the time being.
Friday today so it will be a busy day at w**k later and i`m expecting a mad weekend there too.
Both hounds are looking rather sheepish as they`ve just destroyed half of an old quilt that i gave them to lie on, both laid down facing each other unstuffing it , it looks like its snowed in my living room
I`ll be off out with them soon so they can get rid of some of their energy.

N9eav - make sure that you take time out to rest

Beth - hope that you have a good journey to the hospital and that the op goes well.

    Catch up later guys

    Morning everyone

I'm off into the city today to get a bag for my trip away with work next weekend. When I get back I'll get cracking with some housework and baking and will pop to OHs parents to have a nice shower-hopefully we'll be able to have the water back on by Monday. Guess we are just being tested at the moment. Will finish the spare room wall when I'm back too and then tomorrow I'm hoping we can move our bedroom stuff into there so we can get cracking on getting our room done,

Finished an excellent book last night called 'East End Memories', anyone here read it? I loved it. Going to finish my history book on the 50s now :)

Going to finish giggling at Barbie descriptions (Alpha Mummy) and then go and get ready for the day.....

Have a good one everyone and hugs to those who need/want.

Well done to you and your son, angie_baby :j

I'll add your post to the Daily thread, where we talk about ups and downs in our day.

Edit - suppose I'd better add my two-penn'orth :o:p DD and her friends have bought a tent so that they can go camping together (mainly with Explorer Scouts). They've camped in a friend's garden last night, but it did pour with rain at about 10pm, so hope it's a good tent

We're planning a barbeque with friends tonight. The forecast is dry, but it's a bit chilly, so we may eat indoors. DS wants to make scones, so that'll be pudding :T

    Morning everybody :hello:

N9eav - hope you get a break - take care
ronankfan - enjoy the concert! Oooh, would never have guessed from your username that you were a Boyzone nut :p;) I was just about to tell you that VickyA was going tomorrow, but I had to abandon writing my post to discuss something important at work, and by the time I got back Vicky had already posted :D
You'll all laugh at the way I have transported my toast to work today - blood bag!! If patients don't have bloods or don't attend then the little plastic bag that your blood samples are put in just has the patient ID ripped off and is thrown. I'm so fed up of chucking them when they haven't been opened at all that I took the ones I had home last night and have used it to being my toast in this morning. Make do and mend!
According to my mum, her (doctor) sister used to pack picnics in the polystyrene containers made for transporting donor organs :D

Got a nurse's appointment this evening at 6 (as I've just registered with local surgery) then should have a Tesco wine delivery coming between 8 and 10 - this could be interesting, I had a phone call last weekend to say they were out of stock on half my order, and offering me a £10 e-coupon for my inconvenience - but it seems the person who called me was clueless and thought he could action my request to substitute something else, which apparently (according to the person I spoke to a couple of days later) they can't do. So I kicked up a stink to CS, as only having half the order means the voucher I used for my 1200 extra clubcard points on a £100 spend would be invalidated. I never buy wine in bulk without there being at least 1000 points in it :D CS person told me he'd make a note on my account and I could ring up after the delivery arrived and they would honour the extra points, so we shall see... it didn't occur to me at the time to demand my delivery charge back too (bearing in mind it would have been free over £90, but not at £53 or whatever it is my order is now coming to) so will probably angle for that as well :D

Am making a big fish pie this evening - last week in Tesco I picked up 3 packs of fish pie mix reduced to half price, so am going to do a huuuuuge pan of mash and another huuuuuge pan of white sauce made with some of my huuuuuge quantity of bargain Tesco milk, and make - you guessed it - a huuuuuge fish pie :D

    Right, best be off

    Rzl xx
