OS Daily Friday 30th May 08

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 28th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning.

It's Friday and that should be great...
But I am just swamped with work at the moment. Things have kicked off big style down our way and overtime that used to be a luxury is turning into normality. Made an extra 6 hours last night, getting home at 10. Then I wake up at 4.30 this morning. I guess exhaustion might be kicking in as my brain feels like it's on 'speed'. (it's not by the way)
7am start today and a late finish assumed.
Half of the staff in the office have been seconded away to other things, so 2 of us will be doing 7 peoples work...
I can see some money coming in, but also problems.

Ah well..... at least I might be able to afford some heating oil!

Nothing getting done at home. No insurance claim, Hen house needs cleaning, etc..... don't care at the moment.

Should be off tomorrow for 4 days. We will see?

Cheers

    Good morning all.

N9EAV - it sounds as if you have been working far too hard and have too much on your plate. It's horrid when life gets like that because you end up exhausted and feeling that you aren't actually getting anywhere. I hope you get the chance to chill out with some Vino Collapsio over the weekend.
SMOKY - I hope you and the LOs are well.

PENPIN - hope you are feeling better every day.

MRS MIX - (((hugs))) to you.

BETH - GOOD LUCK TODAY! Will be thinking of you at 1pm! Just think, no more waiting!

    CANDYGIRL - (((hugs))) to you.

    CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello:

Well, I'm feeling tired despite a pretty good night's sleep. I spent most of the evening doing the payroll and typing for DH so I think my brain is still tired from that.

I tried to watch that Road Rage programme late last night but kept dozing off so I shall try and catch up with it today. I don't suppose anyone on it came up with any solutions to the problem of congestion - workable, fair solutions, I mean, not the kind that penalise the driver even more!

I have to do my food shopping this morning - heaven only knows how much that will come to. I bought lots of baking stuff last week so won't need any this week; that should save some money. I'm also going to have a good look at the recipes in the indexed collections for some more inspiration - does anyone else feel they cook the same meals on a sort of loop?

Well, I'd better go and have a shower; see you all later.

I'm off to work soon, it will be nice to start getting there on time instead of being late every day.
BIL should be seeing the estate agent today at 4, I've managed to persuade him that relying on his ex for information is probably not the way to go if he wants an accurate idea of what's happening.
I met a friend for lunch yesterday & we had a good natter, unfortunately I met her opposite New Look & as she was running late I went for a wander inside & came out with a skirt, oh well, it was in the sale & I fell in love with it months ago & didn't buy it as it's far too young for me. Yesterday the sun was shining, I felt 17 instead of 57 & I bought it, I have also worked out a way of wearing it that will make it more suitable & anyway I don't really care, lol.
    Have a good day.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning folks

Up early today, worried about my step son's cat it is very ill, I think my step son and his wife will make the right decision this morning and have the cat put to sleep. I very rarely hear from my step son since I got divorced so when he rang at 9.30pm last night I knew something was very wrong.

Off to work today, food shopping at lunchtime.

Still raining here so no need to water the spuds which are growing like made, I just hope they are making lots of little spuds!!!

Booked FREE tickets to Silverstone 7th and 8th June for the renualt world series, looks like a good day out.

    Morning all,

First of all I want to thank you all for your kind thoughts re. my opp today. Had a bad night but know it will be the last time my right arm bothers me. Hope they can do the left one just as soon as the right is ok.

I went to the Dr. about my left hand, he said I have a ganglion and has given some anti inflamatory cream, next stage is corrtisone injections if that fails they will remove it.

I phoned my younger DB last night as he wanted to know how things went at the hosp. I was on the phone for over an hour.
He found several moles on his chest and thought he'd better have them checked out.
His Dr. sent him straight to hosp for a biopsy and was diagnosed with Melanoma. He has to go back on Tuesday for the results, the moles were photographed and measured, not a good sign.

My dad died of lung cancer but also had Melanoma. I'm so worried about him, he has had a tough year, my SiL left him after 21yrs and he has suffered from deppresion.

He has sworn me to secrecy as he doesn't want to worry the family, I'm just glad he could talk to me, he knows I'm always here for him.

Well, not much OS here today just trying to keep up with the chores, have managed to catch up with the ironing and have checked the freezer and have enough meals in there for 6 days. Have done some sewing/mending DH is always loosing buttons.

A friend is helping DH move the furniture for carpet fitter so I can stay at home until we set of to the hosp, so I wil catch up on paper work.

Just seen on the news that where the hosp is the river Sheppy in S/set has burst it's banks last night and some roads are closed because of flooding, hope we can get through.

Love and (((((((((( hugs to you all ))))))))))

Good luck today Beth, hope you are back on here soon

Hester, age is just a state of mind. I was 50 last year and bought a pair of pink Doc Marten type boots that I have always wanted. I intend to grow old disgracefully :p

Had yesterday all planned, and then had a phone call to say I was supposed to be at work, so that scuppered that :o

Anyway, definitely not working today, so going into Home Bargains, then Aldi and Asda.

Hugs to everyone who needs one xx

hugs to those in want/nedd of one ((especially thinking of Beth and her brother))

i hope not too many on here are suffering with any flood damage, it thrashed it down here last night but we are reasonably high on a sloping estate and with no local rivers we are lucky in that it doesn't affect this area. It sounded awful in somersett listening to the late news last night.

really felt for the footie lad last night on britains got talent, but that young girl was the clear winner she has a fantastic voice:T .

Cant believe its the last day of 1/2 term, its flown by, tomorrow is a rush day -shopping kids trampoling (two sessions as they are in training for a competition,) tomorrow the decision gets made as to whether youngest DS will take part, in all honesty he isnt ready he cant do a front drop yet so id sooner he was taken out and waited till the next comp comes along when he'll have a chance at doing well. So it will brobally just be eldest DS doing it.
THen DH has gym ssession and blood doaning library books are due back and we have a wedding reception in the evening. so busy busy busy.

I must colour my hair today, im just being lazy i've got the stuff to do it just lack the motivation to bung it on then i look in the mirror and know it NEEDS doing.:o

OS wise today is shopping list, quick tidy round and try and finish a couple of knitting projects if its nice this afty i'll take youngest DS to the libary and stop of via tescos to make a start on the shopping. i need to get some more planting out done but have run out of compost.

I hope everyones day has something nice in it.

    Morning all,

Bethebee, sorry about your DB, at least he seems to have spotted then fairly fast though. Best of luck today at the hospital, will be thinking of you
mrs-moneypenny - hope your busy day goes okay :)
N9eav - hope you get your days off
    Candygirl ((hugs))

Going to be busy today. I have another exam to watch at 9 am and a load of paperwork to do as well as some lab work. I finally got home at 10.30pm last night and slept pporly when I did go to bed, up again at 5am and back in here at 6. I'm so tired I ache :( Luckily for me the student I was looking after yesterday got rest breaks, which meant I wasn't sitting still for 3hrs - I'm a dreadful fidget and I don't do sitting still particularly well :rotfl: I don't think I have the same lad today though, so it looks like 3hrs of clock watching. Still, to be fair I get quite a bit done because I haven't got a choice but to sit still :rotfl: and they do pay invigilators fairly well - having recieved another £350 bill from the solicitor last week :( , the money is really handy. This is crippling finacially as well as mentally and it isn't going to get better for a while.

I made bread pudding when I got in last night as I was a little hyperactive so couldn't settle. I used grated carot instead of the apple and it works really well. OH hates raisins, so I bought it to work instead.

have a good day all, cel x
