I'll keep people posted on whether my refund does indeed show up as promised, as I they told me over the phone that they have received my proof of postage and it shows I returned my disc in good time.

    Hi all,

    The latest is that:
    a) they haven't answered my e-mail re the 'missing disc' or come back with any response in the 7 days since I canceled
    b) they have debited my current account for this months membership, even though on 29th June I canceled membership via the website!

I find it incredible that they have not come back to me at least saying 'you have to pay for the missing disc which is £££'. However, they should not be able to continue charging me membership?

I believe that although the OP has started the thread in an angry tone, this doesn't take away from the fact that it is a very helpful thread to anyone who has suffered at the hands of this company. The dozens of threads across the internet about bad service from them also proves it's not just one or two people experiencing this. Anyone who has had great service has been lucky, and fortunately needs not read or contribute to a board like this one.

    Hi everyone,

To update you I have called them and spoken to a Shevaughn. She mentioned that I would not be refunded this month's membership, even though the lost disc and the membership are 2 different issues! I mentioned that surely I should be entitled to cancel membership and deal with the lost disc completely deparately but this is not their 'policy'.

After a lengthy chat and being placed on hold she agreed to 'on this occasion' mark the disc as lost/stolen on their system, and I would get a lost/missing claim form form 'in a few weeks time' to complete that I can send back to them.

I am entitled to continue renting DVD's with the money we have paid them this month, for a membership we did not want, so they have made £13.49 by having this complicated process for canceling.

There is no way I am risking renting even one more DVD from them, as no doubt come end of June another one will be 'lost' so they can continue charging membership.

What a con. At least the £13.49 is )hopefully) the last I will see of them and will never use them again. Lovefilm will get my business back.

I think Siobhan is the only person that works there TBH.

I apologise if the opening gambit to my thread sounded "angry"! that was totally unintentional. It was more a "right lets get justice for those affected by this dodgy outfit" as far as I was concerned!

Anyway. Lets take Siobhan's promises with a pinch of salt folks. Do we really believe she will not debit and will credit said cards? The only way to prevent misappropriation of funds from your debit cards, is i the card is stolen due to loss or theft.

Any update on letters sent received folks?

    PPS

The amount of people that have been told their final DVD was missing in the post really is UNBELIEVABLE! I wonder how come so many of the last discs customers return go missing. Oh well, at least Royal Mail will refund them £36 per missing item...............

I don't think they will offer refunds at all - that is what Siobhan told me.

Still waiting for my 'lost' dvd form to complete - still at a loss as to why MMS will take 3-4 weeks to post this to me. I presume it's so that they can debit my card in July. I will keep this thread as a reminder of what I have done to date!

    Hi all,

I have had a note back from MSE as follows:

    "Hiya

We're not going to do our own poll on it as the Lovefilm one in the article covers mymoviestream as well, but feel free to get one started yourself if you like.

Meanwhile we're going to take the link out of the table in the article.

    Thanks again for that :)"
