If it is a Direct Debit (that you have cancelled) you can get your money back through the "Direct Debit guarantee" with your bank AFAIK

Unfortunately it's a Switch payment. I've been reading Martin's guide to Continuous Payments and I think I'm pretty much at their disposal. Gah.

Hi Lilian and Josefolkiewicz,

OK, What you can do here, is cancel your card that MMS take payment from. It's a bit of hassle, and a bit below the belt, but it will prevent these crooks robbing you of more cash.

So, call your lost/stolen card number (usually can be found on the back of your switch card). Report your card 'lost' to them (maybe you 'misplaced' your purse?.....) They will then cancel your switch card, and send you a new one with a new 16 digit number. The result? MMS can't take the payment for the second month.

Make sure you have cancelled on screen as they state in their terms and conditions, and print a copy of the screen page.

Send EVERY communication (including last DVDs) RECORDED delivery from now on a keep copies of everything you send them and all receipt for the recorded delivery.

Keep all copies in a folder, as you may, in 12 months find a debt collection agency chasing you. With this evidence of cancellation and receipts, you can proved you acted according to the contract.

It will be interesting to see how many people's last discs went "missing" in the post. I bet Royal Mail will also be interested.

I've spoken to them this morning who have confirmed that my account will be cancelled as the proof of postage proves I sent it back in time. They've also said I will get a refund in 14 working days. Hmm.

I am making copious amounts of notes of everything that happens!

Hi there,

I joined mymoviestream via EGG Money as the offer seemed good, they were offering a free DVD and also a discounted membership.

However, I have found the service awful, no new movies and their way of communicating quite rude.

I have canceled my service, only to find that apparently my penultimate disc is missing and I have to submit 'evidence' that I sent it. But yet they got my final disc!

This is a complete ruse and I don't know what to do - I have e-mailed them a complaint but do I seriously have to cancel my switch card? I did not send that disc with proof of postage as it was the penultimate one...

Please help!

I would recommend you firstly write to the MD of MMS who is David Watson.

In your letter tell this guy that you have had problems with your last disc being allegedly missing. (I agree this happens too frequently to possibly be true).

Have you noticed the envelope they send you to return discs to has a different postcode to their registered address?

You do not have to cancel your switch card of course, and that was merely my musings as to the only way to prevent them taking money. I think it would be akin to getting blood from a stone if they took money and you requsted a refund.

PM me if you need help writing the letter. AND MAKE COPIES of EVERYTHING! Send everything recorded delivery too!

Thanks SFGH have pm'd you - do you know if in a few days they will stil try to get that £13 from my account? They were due to take it around 28th May but I presume my cancellation request freezes that for a week.

What if I write to them and they still take my money via the bank? I'd almost rather pay the £30 for the 'lost' disc, but they have not offered me that option. Presumably they will skin me for £13 for the June membership (that I don't want) and then still charge me £30 ontop?

If anyone has any experience of this stage as well your advice is most welcome...

Don't worry, she's just got some obsession with this company! This is just some vigilante thread to make her feel good.

How on earth would you be able to read this forum if everyone started a thread like this with a company they have some sort of grievance with, it would just be littered with "REPORT BOARD FOR......................." everywhere!

Fortunately most other people seem to have slightly more emotional control.

Next we'll just end up with again with the "Why do some people bother hanging around on vent boards" speech again.
