Again, people on here can guide. sometimes - the retailer simply has no intention of willingly providing statutory rights, and in these cases in particular a thread like this tried to be can provide enormous help and support.

You, tim, claim to have a wealth of experience in retail, just think how useful you could be if you posted with the intention of helping the op :D

Personally, that's how I read this board - to provide a pooling of experiences, support and advice.

There is a discussion board for debates - and it can get as hot you like on there!;)

I agree Andy - it's been a very helpful board to me in terms of what steps to take, especially other people's experiences have been so horrible.

Most of it is providing easy steps to take, for those of us who have reason to complain. For example, I wasn't even aware they could continue to debit my card for as long as they want to until SFLG mentioned it. I will make sure not to sign up to any other subscription now that is based on my debit card - only direct debit, which I can control.

Glad you think it's been useful EagerLearner!

I quite agree about the debit/credit card details. I am also only using DD from now on! A valuable lesson learnt for me.

I don't consider that you have deviated, sfg, rather, defended your corner. btw, just a small point, you started a thread not a board, I'm not bothered but there are some who would nit-pick that point with you!;)

Back ot, I see you already have a little group of 'fellow sufferers' - good to see that your thread has a positive outcome! :T
    Thanks anyrules!

Hurrah, it's cancelled. They haven't taken any money from my account which was due on the 23rd, so i seem to be ok.

Apparently they are getting more cinema tickets next month which will be sent out.

Does that mean it's cancelled now then? Recorded delivery obviously worked :p

I actually had an email confirming my account was closed, and instructions as to how to reactive if i wanted to. Have you tried logging in to your account to check the status?

Just logged in, and the message I get is:

'Your account is currently set to Unsubscribing. If you have changed you mind and want to stay, just visit our 'RESUBSCRIBE' page.'

So does that mean I'm not 'unsubscribed' yet? Ugh I just want rid of this company!

Maybe write to them (recorded delivery) and tell them that you no longer consent to them holding ANY of your details for any purpose whatsoever.

Instruct them that they should destroy all records relating to you (weather physical or electronic) including any archived records and for them to confirm in writing when this is done.

Not sure if it will work but worth a try.
 I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

Okay I phoned them and spoke to a very rude woman!

Aparantly it's cancelled and I won't get charged, the conversation went something like this:

Me - 'I'm basicly just wondering if it is cancelled because I got an email saying that another disc would be sent out'
Her - 'That's just an automated email, your account is cancelled'
Me - 'So I definetly won't get charged?'
Her - Well obviously you won't, your account is cancelled, why would you get charged (this all said in a nippy tone)
Me - Your being a bit rude, I was just trying to make sure I wasn't getting charged
Her - I'm being rude? Well go and speak to someone else then (hang up)

    Lovely company huh.
