Hi punksluck, I have had transitions, thinned down (1.65 index I think) with all the coatings that cost me less than £100, I had a pair recently, bought a frame, Bench for £15 from eyewear-warehouse on ebay and they then gave me a discount code to use to get 10% off the lenses with ciliaryblue. I've used them many times before and a big fan of reglazing, so got a pair of glasses for just over £100 that would have cost at least £250 on the high street, bargain!

Thanks for the heads up. I ended up going to Eyewear Glasses in the end as they sold me a pair of varilux transitions reactor into a sunglasses frame for a third of what my optician charged me last time and the best thing was that because I live quite close to where they are based they came round to fit them properly for me, although I did have to wait about 3 days for them to arrive . It was like having servants coming round and making a fuss of me - now I know how the other half live!:j

The reason why I went with these guys was because I was informed by someone on a consumer forum who had bought from Ciliaryblue before that the lenses he got given weren't the genuine transitions but a cheaper alternative which don't react as quickly - although their prices are quite cheap.

Would like to thank all in this post for the information - having learnt about Cilaryblue here, I used them to re-glaze my sunglasses with a revised prescription. They gave me a special price for coated/polar lenses, sent the packing box, reglazed & returned all for £30 - and in just 4 days.

The communication was simply perfect also!

    thanks again!

I have used a company called discounteyes for the past 4-5 years and they usually have lots of offer and even offer a reglaze service even though they dont mention it.

i have been pretty happy with them.
They have lots of reviews on alexa also,i think this helps when choosing.

I went to the same place as Punksluck and got a good price and decent service for my varifocal sunglasses. Can you believe that my local opticians wanted to charge me nearly double what I paid online!!? I think it's a disgrace that the high street opticians are still charging the earth even in these difficult financial times.

Would thoroughly recommend https://www.eyewearglasses.co.uk as they were very helpful and kept me up to date throughout the whole process. I don't think I'll ever go back to my opticians after having such a good experience online!

Another place that seems to have a good reputation on these forums is 'cilary blue' - or something like that, I can't remember their name as I haven't used them before.

I used IWHS10 last time as I bought the frames from an ebay company that gave me the code, not sure if it still works though, it was a while ago! You'll be happy with ciliaryblue either way, me and my family used them many times now.

  • Had to stop by and recommend Cillaryblue. They offered fantastic customer service and re-glazed AND dispatched my glasses on the same day they received them, now that is fantastic service.
    Merry Christmas MSE!
