well.. our grandparents would have used a stick to mash the laundry in the tub.. it was only when it came to stubborn stains they would have slopped the wet stuff on the washboard and then used a scrubbing brush.
Last summer when both of my 2 machines broke I washed our stuff in the padlling pool.. water + laundry + children = VERY clean laundry!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Hi, trish! We all have days like that. I'll add your post to today's Daily thread where we talk about the ups and downs in our day.
You might like to join pigpen and the other Fly-people on the Flylady thread, too, for help with cleaning and tidying in your home.

Hello everybody. First chance to post - Mr Rage lot better but having reaction to antibiotics so Consultant has changed them. Had the remains of last night's spag bol for lunch - OMG - one girl said "oh that's nice" - "last night's dinner". "Oh I never save anything when I've made it even if there's a couple of portions left I just bin it"......... told her she was bonkers!!! I'm stunned - but then again - why am I? PigPen - I think wahing the laundry in the pool was a fab idea - there's a reason grape pickers tread the grapes!!! I hand wash a lot of stuff through choice and have rigged up a nice little tidy-dry in the en-suite!!! Even Mr Rage is using it!!! See you all later! But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0

Oh trish06 - poor you - I did an experiment last year when my old faithful broke and handwashed for about 3 months - I almost lost the will to live and there are only two of us
Well I'm back from Brighton - The Dirty pretty Things were great, the only disapointment being that Carl Barat once again failed to catch my eye, leap off the stage and profess undying love - sigh. dneice and I went right to the front - I warned her about my embarassing Mumdancing but it seems only to matter if it's your actual mum that's doing it.
I'm just making the most of the next few hours as Mr CaringSharing is imminent. He is picking up our dd from her dsis and then staying the night as he's taking her and a friend to Thorpe Park tomorrow. I offered him a 2for1 voucher but he said it won't work because there are three of them ..... yes but .... oh never mind it's his money he's wasting!
have a good dayI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
I wasn't sure where to post this being a newbie.
My dad used to make a yummy cheap and filling pie when I was kid,a recipe he got from a newspaper. It was basically parboiled potatoes,sliced,2 large onions sliced and cooked until browning, loads of cheese and a batter.the onions were on the bottom, then the potatoes, then the grated cheese and the batter poured over the top. When cooked it had a glorious brown cheesy crust on the top, which was set like a light cake all the way through, potatoes were cooked-it really was gorgeous and we used to eat with a big dollop of ketchup and then sit back stuffed to the gills, rubbing our tummies afterwards.
Trouble is I haven't got a proper recipe,ie what sort of batter mix-would it be like yorkshire batter consistency-or oven heat and timings. Every time I have tried to make it in the past the batter has been really undercooked although the top was brown. I can't afford to keep going wrong!
Anyone suggest what I am doing wrong (ooh my mouth is watering remembering it!)Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0 -
Evening all
Have been without the internet since Weds morning as we had a massive storm and it blew the modem out. Trawled off to PC world for anther one, only to find after several attempts to install it and finally traipsing back in the pouring rain with DS that it was the wrong b****y one  .
WEnt to the rare breeds centre yesterday. Shame it rained. Nealy brought a piglet home with us.
Watched Hugh whathisname last night and was really disappointed he showed people planting plug vegetables. Felt it was really misleading and expensive just for the stunt of growing veg for the TV.
Hugs to all who need one. Have started a diet today and been for a run, I reaaly must snap out of being so negative.
Have a good night all

Hiya everyone
Not read todays thread yet, been out most of day but will go back and read. so (((hugs))) to all that need them, or if you just want one
Finally did the jobcentre thing today and it made me feel like taking a shower:eek: I only wanted to make a claim to see if I could get my stamp paid, wasn't expecting any money, but because I left my last job cos it hurt my back had to fill in loads of stuff.
Anyways, after I came out I went into an agency on spec, have now got interview tomorrow for a temp job. I really wanted to find a perm job in my town but hey if I get this the bank balance will look good and I'm sure that the travelling time (2 buses) I can look on as ME time and listen to music or read.
When I got home, looked at my meal plan and I should have put beef casserole in the SC tooooooo late for that, so have defrosted an already cooked mince thingy and made shepherds pie.
Tomorrow is going to be errrrrr strange:eek: I will have to get up early for a change and find my way to this interview, if they like me will start Monday, agency is unsure how long the assignment will be, just onging.....every little helps.
Hope everyone has a good evening

I drooled satisfactorily
then went out to weed the veg patch.
Our friend popped round to tell us that his wife is pregnant :T She had a stillbirth (8 months pregnant) last year, made all the more traumatic by having to stay in the maternity ward surrounded by other people's babies  They're from Brazil - been here about 3 years - so have no family here at all so it was extra hard for them. But they're really excited again now :j
He told me he's going to be in trouble now, because she wanted to tell me herselfBulletproof0 -
Ok confession time, I didn't make my moneysaving curry instead I went to Asda to post some letters and the 'curry meal deal for 4 people' fell into my basket.
So whilst it was quite delicious, and hardly labour intensive, I still feel guilty.:o
But I'm sooo tired from my mega journey that I just wanted an easy life tonight.
Anyway, managed to freecycle some stuff today including a hoover and a welsh dresser so a little bit of the 'stuff' mountain is decreasing.
How on earth do all of you with tidy, uncluttered homes do it?
Also done some washing and stockpiled on bread flour from Asda as it was rollbacked from 75p to 48p.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08
