Wipe off the visual stuff, then do a hot wash with towels but instead of using washing powder alone... use 1/4 washing powder with half a bottle (250ml ish) of vinegar - that will sort it0

Hi hmc,
As your thread has dropped down the board I've added it to the existing thread on cleaning a washing machine seal which has lots of ideas that should help.

The rubber surround for the door of my washing machine has black marks on it that look a bit like mould. Is there any way to clean it off?January spend = £100

Try some vinegar. If that dosen't shift it then borax dissolved in hot water, wear rubber gloves for that though.First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.0

I would clean, if at all possible, any visible mould then wipe with bleach, leave it to stand for about 10 mins to kill the spores and rinse-wash the machine. Or alternatively, squirt bleach into the empty washing machine and quick wash (hot is not necessary as bleach does the job) to kill spores on the rubber and any other moulds inside the washing machine where you cannot see.Money is not the root of all evil.
It depends on how you obtain it and how you use it.

The grey rubber seal on my washing machine has got lots of black mouldy stuff on it, I've wiped as well as I can, but it hasn't all come off. Has anyone any ideas on what to use without damaging the rubber? The service man who came left me a leaflet with stuff I can buy, but really can't afford to buy a product, would be looking more for something that's very cheap and works!
I also had mould in the soap dispenser drawer and have managed to remove most of that, it seems it is taking over my washer at great speed!
Any OS tips appreciated!
