Sounds lovely Mrs Moneypenny. I am in baking mood at the moment but don't have any cheese or I'd be trying it.
Have just made two loaves, years since I did any breadmaking, my arms ache from the kneading. Tastes lovely though, between us me and the dog have eaten half a loaf already. He's well impressed.0 -
Hullo all...I'm back from moving house and our holiday to India. It's been a hectic 6 weeks and there has been no time to keep track of our grocery shopping. I do know that the bill for May was far too high - we were only in the country for 11 days and we spent at least £75. So I need to get back into the groove of watching our expenses.
Having moved to a new neighbourhood, Mr. S has become our local supermarket instead of Mr. A. There is however a Mr. A not far away, not to mention an Aldi, a Netto, a Costcutter, and an Iceland. We also have a local fruit seller, butcher, and bakery - not necessarily cheaper than the supermarkets but I'd like to support local businesses where I can - especially for fruits which are locally grown.
The catch however is that OH and I have both been diagnosed with high cholesterol. On top of that OH has diabetes and high uric acid. Not to mention we are both about 20kg overweight. Our family doc was very unhappy with us and we've been on a diet of healthy food since we got back. Among other things we have had to stop eating red meat, cut down on tomatoes, processed food, eating out and desserts.
Which is a bit of a problem on the MS front because we are suddenly eating chicken breasts (instead of much cheaper beef mince), fresh veg (instead of the cheaper and bulk buy-able frozen veg), and loads of fruit (OH hates fruit and will eat only cherries and blueberries - instead of the cheaper oranges and apples).
Also, Mr. S is a fair bit more expensive that Mr. A. So I have my work cut out for me this month to ensure that we eat healthy balanced meals while staying in budget. Still...nothing ventured, nothing gained!
Mrs Mc, please put me down for £100 for 2 adults (groceries only; eating out not included).
Good luck to all!Mortgage (original/ current):193,000 (23/09/11)/ £102,500 (07/11/2019)

Took my MIL shopping to Lidl this am and spent £28.45, so hope that will do this week.
They had charmin loo rolls on offer worked out at 27p each, aircupboard is full now! Also got some mince 30% off, 800g so split into 4 and popped in freezer.
Seem to have lots of tins and frozen so, hoping to spend even less next week.
Bought skimmed milk in cartons @ 44p a litre, so will stop me popping to shop for milk.
Is this the cheapest? it`s 49p a box at our local netto.
We go through loads of milk and cereal at our house. tried porridge but they will not eat it!0 -
Please put me down this month. My month runs from the 22nd May as that's when hubbie got paid. Hope thats OK. There are 2 adults, 2 DC and one Jack russell. I also have joined the 'don't throw away food challenge' here
Might help some of you on a tight budget - like me.
Also.... I have set myself a 'use less fuel' challenge on this thread if anyone would like to join me.
Now I'm off to read all 18 pages to see if I can glean any tips.

Woohoo! Go MrsM! Well done you.
I have Mr T delivering on Tuesday between 9&11pm (hope I can stay awake that late!!) and hopefully that will be it apart from any fresh fruit - allotment is now starting to yeild the veggies but the fruit has a way to go as yet.
Good luck everyone, bye for nowBanana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning0 -
Hi
Going to give this a go again if I may. Dont have a clue what I spend to be honest so will keep a tab on what I spend in my Sig and try to reduce , or maintain , that total.
Will go from Payday to payday so started yesterday.
Hello to you all :hello:
Edit...Forgot to say that I am going to include the lot,Food, beer and sundries.0 -
Afternoon all - sorry to be off topic but...
my graduate loan is finally paid off!!! after 6 yearsI even got £34 back in my account today as the final payment wasn't as much as the standing order had been set up for!! Hooray!
very chuffed!
SFT - good on you - like you said, this money is, in essence, extra to your income as you would normally have spent it anyway! Keep on planning - time flies when you've got a toucan on the fridge!
Went into the butchers to get our mince and ham and a couple of other bits and £17.23 later I should now have all we need apart from fresh stuff and milk. (now where have I heard that before?!) Anyway, with this place I'll be sure to be keeping an eye on what's being spent rather than just letting it get out of hand!!
Off to sort out my kitchen cupboards now!
Well done for paying off the student loan, i can understand why your chuffed. I start Uni in Sept, and the debt is very, very, scary  .
