So now I have courgette, tomato, lettuce, garlic and cucumber all lookin good.

I am very pleased to say it's trial and error but there are so many great threads on here and greenfingers forum for advice problems are easily resolved.;)

Failed in the NSD stakes as the fuel strike has affected store deliveries of fruit / veg / water. So being the good parent that I am I stocked up for the weekend with wine, fresh juice.squash, fruit & veg, bread and baked beans so having updated my signature I have 69 euros left with freezer, cupboards and fridge full so have a good feeling about keeping within budget.

Saw a great recipe for Onion Relish on Beyond Baked Beans I think will try when I have some spare containers, will let you know how it turns out.

I have a visitor for a week but she'll fit in with us foodwise so no probs there.

Have made a second batch of Krispie Marshmallow Bars with treacle toffee ( they went down so well yesterday I'll take a tray to the Christening tomorrow )

Have been in the pool twice today!! - well the pool temp is now 28 degrees and I can't hold off telling the kids it's too cold anymore.....

I would like to join the grocery challenge next month as I am too late for this month I think and I have a lot of reading to do . I have been reading some of the threads and I am amazed at how you are all coping. :A
OH has been out of work for some time now on medical reasons and we are struggling a bit, he would love to go back to work but the doctor and the hospital wont let him.
I am going to copy down some of your recipes in the hope I can reduce our food bill , I already look for whoopsies and bogofs and reduced everything I can get my hands on. I now buy own brands just to keep the bill from going sky high.
we have two cats, I cant ask them to cut down but I have mentioned to them about the mice in the garden and the one in the greenhouse but they take no notice
Hopefully I will join in for the july challenge but for now I will watch and learn
and save every receipt to try to see how much we are spending

    bye for now

    Hi :hello:

Just updated my sig. Spent £1.50 on 3 peppers (35p each @ MrT ;)) and some cherry tomatoes (45p) as DS loves these at the moment. I'm gonna slice and freeze the peppers so I can just chuck a handful in when I do chilli/bolognaise/pasta sauces.

    Take care everyone :)

Hi everyone, I just love reading all the things that you all do to save money, Whoopsies, cooking ect. I love cooking and will try most things but I really would like to purchase a bread machine, a lot of you seem to use a BM could anyone suggest one that is easy to use and produces excellent bread? I would be grateful for any advice (it has been said that Lidl has the best bread flour)

    Thanks to you all

Hi MrsM - do you still have family in Sutton? - my daughter lives in Sutton and I live at Huthwaite. I originate from just over the border but have lived in the sutton area for 27 years now so consider myself a suttonian.

I take it you want to copy and paste to a word file so you don't need to keep searching threads?

Open new document in word. In forum use your mouse to select the text you want to copy, right clich the selected text and click on copy then click into the new document in Word, right click the page where you want the copied text to go and select paste.

I've got a document I copy all the recipes into but you could make a new document for each recipe, name the file for the recipe and keep them in a folder on your PC.

Do you have word or something similar mumzy? Open a blank word document then go back to the recipe, highlight the bit you want, control and C, then go to your word document and control and V to paste the bit you had highlighted. Then you can save the document to print out at a later date.
