Well I'm caught up now. Opened a seperate notebook page and made notes on the way!

Annelouise, going to try the cheese things- may use some of the cabbage I STILL have lurking from March!
Mumzy, almonds are really nice sprinkled in salads. Or with cous cous.
Those with freezer issues, when I have to defrost my freezer I can never get it empty to do it. I take everything out of it and put it in carrier bags. I then get a sleeping bag and put the carrier bags in it. Once they are all in there I wrap it up in duvets so it’s a great big insulated ball. Then I turn off the freezer and get going on it with the hair dryer. Once it’s defrosted I can just put everything back in again. It stays frozen so just fits back in very well.
I have had both types of silicone sheets but DH is a really grubby cook and is always doing things on my sheets and leaving them lying around. For some reason I was never able to get the grease off after he’d been near them so I ended up having to chuck them as they were horrible. Not very MSE!

I'm not sure where we are with spends until I can get on and see how much DH has spent over the weekend. He seems to find it impossible not to spend money on food DVD's etc. We had pizza for tea the other night and I must be organized and get a few ready to shove in the freezer. I do like my own home made ones and it costs nowhere near £3.75 a time. (+ whatever DH shoves in the trolley!).
Made a lovely pie last night. We had mexican on Saturday and DH did a load of chicken with peppers but it was far too much and very spicy. I added chopped leeks, carrots, 1pt stock and the 1/2 tub of cream needing used. Cooked it until the sauce was thick and topped with a sloppy mash. Shoved in the oven and cooked for 1/2 hr to 45 mins. Whilst doing this I also made Twinks hobnobs. I made them really small and 83 out of 1 batch. I'd added 1/4 packet sultanas and about 1oz coconut (expiry 2005  ). Was planning on overspending this month and using all my Mr M vouchers but now have 3 out of date. Haven't been shopping since last week but DH went Friday and Saturday. Need to make some more bread today ready for tomorrow and tea tonight is whoopsied king prawns (garlic and parsley) with a whoopsied white wine and garlic sauce and pasta. Accompanied by salad leaves from the garden and maybe some bread. There may be enough for tomorrow if not I'll do the cabbage frittery things with something. Oh, I've a whoopsied beef stroganoff in the freezer so could do that with veggies too. That's that sorted then. Actually- not doing pasta doing the straight to wok whoopsied noodles. Total price for tea= £1.34! Bargainous :D .
Gave neighbour 12 of the twinks and spent the rest of the evening polishing my halo.
Very hot here and think the sun affected me yesterday. After tea everyone was playing on the wii and I crashed for an hour on the sofa!

Be creative and make some glorious desserts! You could make trifle, or a cake Eton Mess with fruit and cream, or glamorous desserts in wine glasses with layered cake and yoghurt (tastes great with cream) or offer it in tiny handsize treats to people.

Sorry its not a definite recipe but I love cake! :D

    Afternoon all,

Have had 3NSD in total so far and have shopped at Lidl and Alsi this morning and my total came to 19.15euros = £15.18 For that I got -

    *3 lolly moulds
    *2 kg onions
    *500ml own ketchup
    *5 packs butter
    * Marj for baking
*2 bags of 15 mini croissants
    *200g jar own coffee ( I'm not fussy )
*Massive pack of marshmallows for Krispie Bars
    *5 red apples
    *12 large eggs
    *2 bags plain flour
    *2 packets ground almonds
    *8 medium green bananas
    *Lime
*3kg chicken reduced to 2.20 euros = £1.74 Already roasted in with the baking.

Not bad at all ,I still have 113.14 left.:T

Tonight going to free buffet at the supermarket opening so may hold off giving the kids tea and see what there is.Have got bolognese sauce out so it'll keep.

Have made 6 individual bakewell tarts and 1 lemon tartlet as my flan tin is too big and they look stunning.Icing made just waiting for them to cool.Too late iced one and ate it ,was it scrummy - yes it was.

Have cut up first HM loaf and packed and frozen sandwiches for ds4.Salami,cheese & ham, pate for the rest of this week.
DD8 & DD9 had jam and bread for supper and told me it was yumyumyum.

My daughters school teacher told me she has started standing on her loo rolls and only using 1 tbspn of detergent in her washer and it works!!!So another convert.

Just need potatoes, tangerines and squash sometime this week but will hold off until new Supermarket opens and see what special 1euro offers they have this week and I plan to take full advantage of them - but only if they're on the list!

Whoever was looking for silicone mats have a look on ebay and go through pigsback to get your points and it's delivered to your door....

    Have a good day everyone

Short of money this month-as usual!!
Have bought a huge sack of potatoes-can anyone suggest any dishes that have potato as their basis?
Have thought of mash, cheesey mash, jackets, potato bake and the ideas have run out!!
    thanks
    Homemade potato wedges-
    - Preheat oven to about 180/200 (depending on your oven)
    - Cut potatoes into wedge shapes, with or without skin.
    - Add some oil to a baking tray and heat in the oven for about 5 mins.
    - Add to pots to boiled water and let simmer on med for about 5 mins.
    - Remove water and rinse well with cold water. Add salt, pepper, and whatever other seasoning you fancy (rosemary/garlic, cajun etc) and add potato wedges to tray.
    - cook for 15-25 mins, turning once or twice, remove when golden and soft in middle. Yummmmmmy
I do these all the time but first time I wrote it down lol, so recipe quite rough and adaptable!
    Fritatta-
google for a recipe, basically its like a big omelette with potatoes and other things in.
    Potato cakes/scones-
    google as above lol
    Potato salad-
    google as above.

Sorry this is more ideas than recipe but hth.
