Mum came good with the recipe for the potato burger pie. It takes longer to cook than I thought but can quite happily sit in the bottom of the oven while other batches are being cooked and is definitely worth it (in my humble opinion anyway:p ). Those quantities serve 4 very generously, especially if you add roast potatoes and veg on the side.

    1 lb (450g) minced beef
1.5 lb potatoes, peeled and grated, rinsed and squeezed
    1 large onion, grated
    1 tsp bouillon, optional
    15 oz tin chopped tomatoes
    Salt & pepper to taste.

Mix meat, grated onion, tomatoes, stock cube or powder, then add grated potatoes, using more or less to get the desired consistency. Add salt and pepper to taste (you always need more than you think) Bake covered for about an hour at 160C, stir gently so you don't break up the potato too much so that the middle goes to the edges and corners. Then bake uncovered for about another hour. If it starts to burn, turn the oven down - the idea is for this to dry out so it forms a meat loaf.

It doesn't freeze well raw (gets too wet) and never had enough leftovers to try freezing cooked.

Guess what I'm cooking this weekend:rolleyes:

Last week Lidl had silicon baking sheets for £1.99 - unfortunatley only 1 left when I got there - but it jumped into my trolley double quick!

I didn't see them in ours*glum*-- where else can I get them from at a reasonable price?

Am sticking to my NSD so this is for future reference of course! :o

Here in Spain I bought 2 of those Lidl silicone sheets, they were quite thick and blue in colour. I use them for cooking and also for open freezing stuff as bits slide of very easily. I couldn't find any of the thinner blcker silicone paper in the shops so ordered some over the internet so OH can collect it when he visits his sister in UK next week. I hope to use the thinner silicone to cut and make inserts for the cake tins

Yes they take them, but its still the same T&C's as Mr M so i would assume you have to use the right week

I used mine in the incorrect week (tried it through the self scanner and it went through no problem) it was one not due for a week or so. although I wouldn't have given it to an sa as they would probably check it...

Managed a nsd yesterday and hoping for the same today, although I have ordered a fruit/veg/salad box which comes on friday so have added the spend to my sig (£20 including a fresh chicken and some free range eggs)

Just put some spuds on to make mash later to freeze, glad someone reminded me of that on here as I remembered I have some in the fridge that won't last that much longer....I love to have mash in the freezer as it is a lovely quick and healthy food to give me 3 kiddlies with their tea and doesn't take long to do....(especially when you have all three of them causing mischief while you try to cook something  )

Thanks for this Lucifa, will try it also this weekend - can I just ask, do you need to 'squeeze out' the potato once grated? dh makes rosti sometimes and always does this as he says it is too wet otherwise, or is it ok to leave as it is as it will be baked.....
