Ooh the job sounds interesting - good luck! What are the 'buzz words' for teaching, out of curiosity?

  • Its all on the website squizz i haven't digested it all yet.
Mostly to do with targets and the usual bumph... such as potential of every child, gifted and talented curriculum, every child matters-newish initiative, if a church school then there is the faith element of the curriculum. The creative curriculum, enrichment activities, community ( usually goes with faith)may add the odd 'thought shower' or two in as well! Some are statements rather than buzz words..i know, but usually have to placed in there somewhere.

Hmm, am in a bit of a quandry. Have just been updating my details on an agency website. They offered a free cv revue service, for which you upload your cv and then they talk you through ( otherwise known as trashing it) In the past i have had no problems with my cv, as in agencies have complimented me on format etc.
Now some of her suggestions were very pertinent and to the point. I can see what she means about some of her comments. Obviously they offered to re write a cv for me, based on a rough days salary which would amount £179 plus vat and a covering letter chucked in(i wish!). I said it was too much as for one thing, i am not earning that a week at the moment..but i can see her point as in it could be the difference between interviews and non interviews. Have also had a look at comparisons on the web and have seen that these vary..average is about £100 +
What would you do in this situation? Has anyone else ever done this and was it worth it? I would obviously prefer an MSE testimoney than that of these companies..any suggestions?

My thoughts are that it if it made such a difference, then the agency would do it for free as the profit the make every time you get a job is worth more than £170 + VAT.

Also, I think the Dragon has hit the nail on the head - credibility of your CV is more important than the content - with no credibility, the content is irrelevant. If it's *your* CV, then it has more credibility than a potato-stamp one.

Finally El, has come up with a very cunning plan. Sometime friends see the best parts of us, that somehow we miss. So it would be worth getting someone to talk over your CV as you're doing it and point out things you've missed.

  • I agree Z..nice to see you by the way.Are you well?

My best friend works for connexions, i think she would have a dicky fit if she thought i had contemplated a cv with one of those companies. I will ask her to give it the once over and see what she thinks. I will do a couple of different ones to see which has the best impact.

Have no idea about the prices. As cheap as possible..if you give me an idea of budget i can keep an eye open for you. Netto as i mentioned before sometimes have very reasonable offers.
