I know what you mean squizz, it was just a bit tempting to have someone put me in a better light as we are our own worst enemies for self publicity ..i know i am! I must admit i have never had any problems in the past, with a cv and usually manage to get an interview. Teaching jobs are also rarely cv based other than the agency ones or on the spec ones. I also worry i am on the fringes of it all as i only do temp jobs at the moment and want to have a part time contract for about three days..to fit in with DD2.

Hi BOB - just to let you know that both myself and Dr Dragon have had to look through loads of CVs in the past and the ones that look as though they are agency written tend to get binned! Basically because we do not trust agencies not to "pad" the CV so save the cash!
Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup :D

  • Thanks for that Dragon,i just want to be a bit more proactive in my approach to job hunting, but not to paying out the dosh either.

You see, you don't need it! As for bigging yourself up, you could always put us lot as references - "Yep, Bob is brilliant!" :D

    BOB is great:D

I'd do what Squizz suggested - re-write it yourself using her suggestions, *especially* in light of what Dragon has said. I know its tempting to get it professional, but if they stand out like that, its not worth it....

i found when i was writting my c.v it was hard for me to big myself up similar to you ...what helped me was to get a friend/partner/co-worker to sit and describe what they think my strong points are what they think my role is ...i tended to foget simple things like when i am on shift i am in charge of the unit...then i added things like legislation just saying i work under various ...it lets them know that you are aware of it not that you know it inside out but especially with kids child protection etc is very important ...and to be a smart !!! i added in U.N.C.R.C article 12 ...not sure if that will be of any help but it helped me
  • BOB prints off references for adding on CV..thanks:rotfl: :rotfl: :T

Personally I wouldn't pay to have a CV done.I agree about the legislation bit.Good luck with finding a new job.I would take on board what they said at the agency though.I'm sure you'll find one soon.

Is there anything she suggested that you couldn't incorporate yourself? Thought not. You'll do a better job than an agency - it matters to you. I like the idea of getting a friend to help you sort out your strengths - of which there are many!

    Good luck!
