  • Nothing much to report today. Except there is an advert on telly which reminded me of this

I used to love this in my 'yoof ' and how bloody appropriate!

    Enjoy.

:rotfl: I don't usually click on you tube links, but I did on this one! I remember that! It took my ears a while to get used to that music after years of The Beatles and The Who and whatnot, but I always liked this one, it was so witty. The kid who's done this is pretty witty too. Thanks Bob!
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • I used to love that song..reminds me of when we were in our last year at school. We 5th years as we were known then were in a ROSLA block, had our own record player and it was on a lot! I like the interpretation of it as well..everytime i listen to it i rock with laughter!

Well on the debt busting front have managed to get a bit of extra dosh in to the tune of £150, this was off some obscure policy which was lying dormant..so that is in the coffers and is needed for DD2's bus pass for college..that has now reached the princely sum of £270 for the year. So have to find the other half by Christmas!
No letter yet about the car, so am working on a ball park figure for that. Shopping and budget account looking good. I am going to do a mini spend today based on shopping list!
DS has an interview next week about apprenticeship needs, so he is looking forward to that and is doing some more skills certificates to get further qualifications..so all in all ok at the moment.

On the courgette front..bloomin slugs have unthoughtfully avoided pellets and been munching away. I have visions of them parachuting in on top of them! The beans are producing quite well and will look forward to picking another bunch tomorrow. Chives have now grown so can cut them and flowers and bulbs seem to be getting confused again..what's that all about.

    So list for today.

do shopping..spends about £20 to stock up on bits
    hoover around, and change bed.
ring agencies with cunning ploy of organising my diary to accomomodate them..
    fill in online job appilication.

    Have a good day everyone.

You sound like you've been productive and very thoughtful>Glad everything is looking ok and that you have everything sussed out.Them slugs are a pain ..how dare they?
  • Hmm, am in a bit of a quandry. Have just been updating my details on an agency website. They offered a free cv revue service, for which you upload your cv and then they talk you through ( otherwise known as trashing it) In the past i have had no problems with my cv, as in agencies have complimented me on format etc.
Now some of her suggestions were very pertinent and to the point. I can see what she means about some of her comments. Obviously they offered to re write a cv for me, based on a rough days salary which would amount £179 plus vat and a covering letter chucked in(i wish!). I said it was too much as for one thing, i am not earning that a week at the moment..but i can see her point as in it could be the difference between interviews and non interviews. Have also had a look at comparisons on the web and have seen that these vary..average is about £100 +
What would you do in this situation? Has anyone else ever done this and was it worth it? I would obviously prefer an MSE testimoney than that of these companies..any suggestions?

I've never used one but personally I'd take her points on board and re-do it yourself, am sure you're more than capable of doing that.

  • I know what you mean squizz, it was just a bit tempting to have someone put me in a better light as we are our own worst enemies for self publicity ..i know i am! I must admit i have never had any problems in the past, with a cv and usually manage to get an interview. Teaching jobs are also rarely cv based other than the agency ones or on the spec ones. I also worry i am on the fringes of it all as i only do temp jobs at the moment and want to have a part time contract for about three days..to fit in with DD2.

You see, you don't need it! As for bigging yourself up, you could always put us lot as references - "Yep, Bob is brilliant!" :D
