I don't like using pellets because of the birds. I have thought of trying crushed egg shells, but reckon that if they can crawl over gravel...a few egg shells will be a walk in the park.
On the paving stones i have used steam from my paper stripper, and hot water. Very good for the bloomin ants as well.
Sometimes i find them, snails that is.. and crush them, and leave them for a birdie tea time treat.
Ooh I'll give the salt a go. Feel quite mean but I would actually like to eat some of my lettuces myself!! Not so keen on the idea of eating snails, never tried them.. though it is apparently National Escargot month according to Cafe Rouge...Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Re snails and slugs - we tried the copper strip and we reckon that the little blighters are absailing in! We do have a pair of friendly thrushes though that seem to be doing the job.
Outside this morning we had someone trying to start their engine and really over revving it - finally got it going (with jump leads) and then they switched it off  - half an hour later ......................................Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

It's no coincidence that shortening 'slugs and snails' spells out SAS!
They'll battle through anything if they're hungry.

I have just recieved my National Trust mag, and guess who is in?
Only Baldrick, alias Tony Robinson, talks about both his roles as presenter for Time team, and his cunning plans!
Well on the debt busting front, i have been grappling with e bay this afternoon. Going to try a couple of items to see how it goes.
Young Baldrick (ds) Decided he would list stuff as well, thinking muggins mum would pay for P+P, etc....No way hose! He sat and worked everything out, realised i wasn't going to sub him, and is now doing the car boot with me. Miracles never cease.
On the other side..and turn away now if you don't want the soppy bits...
I really think that this site has saved my marriage. Mr. B, has seen how much happier i have been since it all came to a head. It was very scary between us for a long while. Yep, I have had a good moan:rolleyes: Understatement of the year, I know....But he has started to open up, and realise his ways have to change. So knock me over with a feather and call me kate, he has decided to keep a spending diary, and is now negotiating better rates on his cards.:D We'll make a DFW of him yet.:TBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Hey Bob - Fellow Slackbladder fan! I'm really pleased that you're going to be tackling the debt with great gusto! Good to see you've already made in-roads and you seem to be doing pretty much what I'm doing (I love doing mystery shopping!).
I think though the best way to approach everything in life is to be:
'More cunning than a fox that's just been appointed Professor of Cunning at Oxford University'!!

Although they must be well trained, look what happened when we employed a hedgehog to guard the cabbage patch
