as a customer of ebico i see that i must defend them. i save a fair bit over a year with them and to me it seems that some people don't follow the guide line of saving. by getting cheaper gas doesn't mean that you can use lots more. i was also surprised that S.E were their agents for them, but does it matter who is? i think not. to save you must not go over the top with power consmption, it's a simple as that.
my mother's december gas bill is the same as it was from british gas for the year before and my own was less than it was with EDF.
do your homework first, if you don't, don't complain!0 -
We need to find a cheaper supplier for our fuel both Gas and Electric? we live in a 2 bedroom detached property, and are currently on EON for both fuels but the gas is on a prepayment meter because we got behind with bills (they didnt advise us after price rises to pay any more per month on dd for over a year and we ended up with a bill for more than we could afford) which is now paid off thru the prepayment meter.
Currently we still pay electric by dd at £62.00 per month but the Gas is gulping thru £60 a week:eek: we only have a Ideal ISAR Gas boiler (supposed to be good on energy effientcy) that heats radiators and water, and a gas hob which gets used approx a couple of times a week.
anybody help us out ? we have been on uswitch etc but dint have a clue about figures etc .0 -
Ebico gas (especially if you are a pre-payment customer) is a definite possibility...but leave their electric well alone would be my advice. Exhorbitantly expensive.Call me Carmine....

The first problem you will have is getting off a pre-payment meter and onto a credit meter.
If you have been put on pre-payment meters because of getting behind on payments, EON will be reluctant to put you back on a credit meter.
Presumably your meters are set to repay the debt which is why it is costing so much. Until that debt is cleared you will not be able to switch supplier.
Once that debt is cleared, Ebico will possibly be your best bet for gas on pre-payment - but not their electricity.
You might have to pay to get your meters changed and/or a company may want a deposit.0 -
I`m still with Ebico for both fuels.
About two months ago I searched for a new electricity supplier (couldn`t find a cheaper gas one) and it came up with Scottish Power.
At that time there were rumours of a price cut in Jan 09,so I held fire.
Searching again it now comes up with B Gas "websaver".
Showing a saving of £98 a year but when I actually do my own calculation on their prices,it shows a saving of more like £40.
Just shows how it alters all the time with these companies bringing out new tariffs simply to put them top of the switching table.
I think they take it in turns, probably NPower next week or maybe Eon.
Anyway,it`s best to hold fire for the time being and wait `til the big six review their prices and when the dust settles calculate your YEARLY USAGE and then decide who if any to switch to.0 -
I genuinely hope OFGEM (anyone remember them?) do something about this ridiculously regular practice of superceding online tariffs in order to get to the top of the switching sites. It's discredited, dodgy and needs banning IMO.Call me Carmine....

At the end of the day to use that popular saying it`s down to the government to refer the big six to the competition commission because that`s exactly what they are NOT doing
competing.
The government are not really concerned about lower prices because to tax mad Brown, this means less vat.0 -
i switched over last week, i'm still on a pre payment meter
(the old tenant had it put in)
and they are fitting a credit meter in next week!!
i really hope my gas spendage cuts down, as i do not even have gas appliances except for a boiler. i only put the central heating on for 2-3 hours a day and we are always freezing!!! i cant wait for spring/summer..0 -

Angel....Get an electric blanket, enclose it with a duvet cover, and use it as a throw. 80watt. Helps to keep the central heating off..steal a few hours a day. Will come into it's own spring and autumn.0 -
