Can anyone confirm if this is a good move or not please?

If you are a very low user then, yes, you can easily save 50 to 66% with Ebico. This will tighten up during winter and when your usage increases. But as a low user wanting the ability to pay quarterly with no penalty it is a straightforward decision.
That certainly is the case with gas - in summer.
Not so with electricity and in my area at about 2,000kWh pa Ebico is the same prices as BG websaver.0 -
Even if paying by quarterly cash/cheque as the poster hinted at?Call me Carmine....

It does not matter how you pay with Ebico, the tariff is the same, and no discounts either, so if it is cheaper for you then it is regardless of how you pay
Of course with low saving rates keeping it in your bank until the bill arrives is not as good as it once was, but still worthwhile if only just for a few coppersEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

I think you've misunderstood my post. It was directed at Cardew's assertion that Ebico's leccy is expensive compared to his beloved  British Gas (and it normally IS expensive compared to most supplier's leccy!) but the fact the poster wants to pay by cash/cheque makes Ebico's leccy less un-competitive, if you catch my drift.Call me Carmine....

As above, I've not seen or heard of a tariff like this - you are always charged more for using more, it is just that the price of follow on units is less.
Obvioulsy it is in the suppliers' interests for us to use more, but only becasue they get more money from us.
Use less, pay less - with any company.
Petty silliness. The point is clearly that the average cost per unit decreases the more you use. And the Tier 1 costs are not trivial. In particular, with electricity, there are large numbers of dual fuel customers who only need to use 80 to 120% of Tier 1 units and so will see a savage decrease in their average cost with a larger consumption.0 -
2,000 kWh usage is not low - that is normal to high usage (for a dual fuel customer). And if it's still the same price...
I must be doing something wrong then, I use around 2000 Kwh per annum and always thought it was fairly low, thats only around 40Kwh / week. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I'm convinced, just started the process to move awayr from Scottish Power.
They, SP, have just sent me an email say they are bumping my monthly DD up to £118.
Great, we are coming to the end of the most expensive qtr so will be racking up a wopping great credit before going int the next winter. On the comparison sites EBICO dont come out cheapest for dual fuel. I save a few quid for gas and leccy is more expensive.
But and its a big but, I get to choose how to pay my bill without a penalty rate if it's not by monthly DD.0 -

2,000kws IS low usage, penrhyn, you are doing nothing wrong. The 'average' is supposed to be 3300kwhs.Call me Carmine....
