We use it with leeks, potatoes and cream, baked in a sort of Dauphinoise effort. Very filling indeed, and delicious!
Edit: Actually, this dish is the main reason we put up with the original meal! They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0 -

Lol that's why we eat "bacon, cabbage and potatoes" for the first night, it's much better all fried together the second night! Which is exactly what I did, I considered pasta and rice dishes but DH wouldn't have liked them as much as he did the bubble and squeak.
Tomorrow I plan to make boston baked beans, with a reduced price smoked bacon joint from Lidl. It was down to £2 for 700g and I've been meaning to make baked beans again for ages!

Add chunks to macaroni cheese?0

Probably too late for tonight but one way I use up a bacon joint (esp smoked bacon) is to make a cheese sauce, about a pint. then fry some sliced leeks until tender but not coloured. mix this in with the cheese sauce and the bacon cut into chunks and use with pasta as a Pasta Bake - it takes around 45 mins in a medium oven and I add either just grated cheese or cheese and breadcrumbs halfway through cooking. (you can do this with leftover chicken or turkey btw).0

Make pea & ham soup with any odd leftover bits.If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

Thanks all, I do love cheesy bacon pasta but OH just prefers spuds. I might make the pasta dish tomorrow night, since there was a bag of YS pasta flour in tesco for 50p I thought I would give pasta making a go
Pea and ham soup sounds lovely, I've been meaning to look for a good recipe. I have a big bag of marrowfat peas, and some frozen peas, which would be better?
