Leaving MSE for a bit.........

I am coming round to the opinion that some people actually don't realise how judgemental and inflammatory their posts are. Either that or they are VERY clever, which I doubt.
IMHO, there are at best two posters on and around DT and The Arms who don't appreciate what they are.... The rest post for effect and without a great deal of truth. The MSE Dictionary

There are various ways of expressing one's opinion - some are more abrupt than others.
For instance (and I don't mean any offence by this) I often find that the way you state your opinions can be quite abrupt - like the way you answered the initial post of this thread. Personnally I don't care. You're not a friend of mine and I will never meet you so it doesn't affect me but some people let it get to them.
I always re-read my posts and make sure that - unless someone has really p****d me off - my post are not offensive. I don't come here to have arguments with other posters. Some ( I don't necessarily mean you btw) do

Or at least it did not seem to be?
MSE has always been like this, I have seen threads like this over about 4 years, there are lots of wonderful people giving great advice, lots of strong minded people who are blinkered to the other point of view, wind upmerchants who like to be controversial to get a reaction and many other types of people.
If you go in a pub you will get a similar dynamic;)
Don't let it put you off just post your advice or opinion and ignore the people who upset or annoy you and if you feel the need to use the abuse button don't hesitate.;)0 -

Yer I do state them abruptly. But then should we all wrap our opinions up so we don't offend anyone?
It's threads like these which wind me up, as it carries on an argument that DID happen, was left, but is now bought back up again with one side stating others are nasty.
If your gonna go, just go, instead of looking for the sympathy vote. All this has stemmed from an earlier argument on DT a couple of days ago. Without reading that argument, its all very one sided.
What was water under the bridge, is now here again.
Benefits is always a very touchy subject. And if you get involved in one, be aware that at some point it WILL get personal! The only way not to offend is to sit on the fence.
It got very personal about someone who wants even there really, just because they had a different opinion and it was a way to get at her. I could write a thread about that part which wasn't mentioned on this thread??0 -

Think about real life though, how some people are really blunt no idea how to word something nicely or thoughfully, I try not to offend either but I have been known to type a response and then delete it because I know it would be taken the wrong way.0 -

......??
Of course not, but its possible to be honest yet polite.;) (I don't know any of the threads you refer to, I don't frequent the benfits board).
If one's view offends someone its their issue, if one presents one's view offensively its one's own promblem!:o0 -

I've been around long enough and tried everything. This is concerning benefits threads ONLY, not any other discussions.
Basics of it are, if you word it too 'nicely' your on your high horse or you get 'oh and wouldnt it be so nice to life your oh so perfect life'.
If you point your point across the best you can, all that gets said is 'but thats not the case is it, thats an analogy, not real'.
If your abrupt and to the point, your rude.
Murphy the cat went this way in the end too, at the time I had a go at him, but he was SO wound up at the way you had to say your thoughts and then at the same time run around after every individual who may get upset and explain your actions, he got bored and just stated what he thought. Seems he's not around much anymore, which is a major shame.
Anyway, im outta this thread. If anyone cares to read the locked benefits threads from a few days ago, you'll see who's thanking who and see where this actually comes from0
