Or at least it did not seem to be?
Yer, this is to do with the current economic situation and the worker being totally squeezed to breaking point, and those on benefits saying 'my choice not to work'.
If you have a read through the threads that are locked and see where it kicks off, you'll see what was said that grated quite so much! It's always the same kind of thing.0 -
Anyone that starts reading threads and taking them too personally needs to take a break from here anyway. It's not healthy to spend too much time in a virtual community lol.
I've been a member here for four years and in that time, not much has changed at all. The people are different obviously, but the threads and subject matters, trolls, arguments and opinions are just the same as they always were. If you are finding it difficult to read posts subjectively, then it's best to walk away for a bit and have a little break.
Hope you come back soon"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

Good luck.
Quality Post.
With regard to the aggression though, I think too many people live in a world surrounded by belly rubbers, a world where they surround themselves with like minded individuals who are only ever going to agree with them, even when they disagree! ..... So for them, strongly voiced opinions may appear aggressive.
I live in a world where I tell it as it is and encourage others to do look likewise. If I think someone is speaking out of a hole in their rrrrrse I will tell them and if someone thinks I am speaking out of a hole in my rrrrrse, they are encouraged to tell me so, because education is the only way to learn and prevent similar occurences.

But thats what starts it! You have a strong opinion, so do others. Yet your allowing other opinions to get to you personally because your opinion is right to you.
Don't let it get to you personally. Just switch off, walk away, or be like me and argue your point until your blue in the face knowing your never gonna get anywhere anyway0 -

I have spent the last little while catching up reading threads on the benefits board and discussion time, and have decided to leave MSE for a while. I know that really no one will sob into their cornflakes, but I am posting this for a reason:p
There are genuine people in real need, for whom this site will be a lifesaver-it helped me so much when I first came here.:D
Over the last couple of weeks particularly, it seems to have become full of judgemental posts, from people with a holier than thou attitude.
There seems to be no empathy or tolerance on so many threads now. Even those started in good faith become a slanging match!
I am saddened that people who may take a peek at the site will be too scared to ask for advice when they really need it!
Please remember who this site is for-people who need it, not sad individuals that just want to feel better about themselves!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Sorry to hear that emsy.
My advice though - once passed on to me from a poster who talks sense - use the ignore button.
There was a time I couldn't. I wanted to know what was being said. I now have several posters on ignore and it was the best thing I could have done. Unfortunately, if someone quotes the poster on ignore you do get to see what they say, but it is then up to you whether you respond or not.
If you feel happier, go away and then come back after a while. There are some great people on here, there are also those who like to spout but many of us see what they are.
