A slight detour but does anyone know if you need to have a sky subscription for the sky+ to work e.g. recording, playback, series link etc.__________________________________

just worked for me, i've been given another sky+ box for the bedroom (have one in the front room already (£49!) .
i just rang explaining that the channels in the bedroom are a bit temperamental (true) and that i'm fed up of missing things and was offered plus straight away! woo hoo!
ps. i amin contract till dec and i wouldnt have really cancelled sky, just multiroom.
thanks op.Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.
wins - peroni bottle opener, peroni bowl, peroni coastersx2 and a vodkat cocktail kit,
would love to win something 'proper'!!0 -
I have just phoned them up stating that I have just bought a new TV with built in Freeview (which is true) so don't need Sky. They immediately put me through to the cancellations team who offered me Sky+ for free. They are coming on Saturday to intstall it!
Great Post. :j
Thanks!0 -
just ordered sky+ box, coming friday! what a great result, thanks very much everyone. i did ask for 2 boxes just in case they were feeling particularly generous (lol!) but he said only one per phonecall. used the cheaper telephone number aswell. thanks again!:j0

I tried this once with sky, they called my bluff right to the end, we got cut off, i felt like id lost my right arm but we stuck to it and 2 weeks after we got cut off we had a call offering it for free! so just hang in there!
I think a big factor is what time of the month you call, if they are hitting targets you might not get what you want but it is defo worth hanging in there!0 -
Hello guys i am currently on hold....man this is hard work...i'll let you know......................got one months free viewing...so far so saved £38...so far.....hmmm0

Thanks also op,
Ive got a basic sky subscription, they tried it on with me to begin with, but be persistent. I said im on an extremely tight budget and would love to afford the full package, but have just been told i have to work night shifts indefinately, so ill miss my favourite shows. Unless i get the free sky +.
10mins on hold, ive now got a guy coming to fix it up on friday free of charge.
Thanks so much

whooooooooooooo job done I've handed it over to my O.H now to close the deal.....Its not as easy as some of you had it!!!! I had to wait nearly 20mins!!!
Be brave, be bold, sound annoyed, un-enthusiastic and USE ALL MEANS NECESSARY...I used the Freeview tv upstairs, we bought this weekend...so sky is an added expense for us, so not really necessary....when are they coming??? in a week times.
ooops we got a free phone too....0 -
Big thanks to the O.P,,,,,Your an absolute star!!!!!
BLING BLING BLING....Who's a happy bunny.....WE ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck guys
