    Hi again

I was born in 1966 - that fantastic vintage year that England won the footballing world cup. Of course that is meaningless to me as I am not English! I had an OOOOOO birthday this year...ie the big 40. And I thought 30 was a disaster at the time! Can't believe how young Scuzz and PurplePrincess are - and Pavlov's Dog when she pops by. I mean that in a good way though. I am often surprised when other posters reveal that they have grandchildren when I had the impression they were in their 20's, based purely on how they come across on here.

Shez - you look fantastic, stop running yourself down!! BTW what moisturiser do you use??

Anniebooklover...I think that needs must! Do ask your friends husbands for some of the more urgent or awkward jobs, true friends won't mind at all. You can repay at Christmas with a nice bottle or similar paid for by clever trickery using points or something like that so that you don't miss the money too much. Or even a home made cake - that always goes down well (literally) and the time taken shows how grateful you are without it having to cost you a fortune.

I've been to the doc's - the locum was v.young, obviously just recently qualified, and not that confident about giving a sick note. She has given me a note for two weeks starting yesterday, so that gives me a bit of breathing space to get my act together, so I'll see how it goes. I am still going to apply to Sainsbury's though, as I can't see my current w***place doing much to make things better.

PP, your DD looks lovely! I really like her uniform btw, smart but comfortable looking at the same time, and a v.nice colour. One of the girls schools near me has the kids wearing very full ankle length navy and white checked skirts. It is horrible, so ugly and cumbersome looking, I really feel sorry for the pupils there.

    Bye for now

  • PP - your daughter looks loveyly, very smart and grown up!!! YOu and OH are really doing something good :)

Just back from a pamper day in the city. After feeling really low for a few weeks now on and off decided this morning to treat myself to a day of 'just for me'!!!

Hate to think what its done to 'my special fund' :D:D but thats what its there for. I work hard so I can treat myself. Had a personal shopper at Debhenams and have to say she was lovely and ace:D :) Wasn't pushy but very helpful as I am just not girlie when it comes to shopping and all that. Have 2 nice outfits that I can take away with me on hols. Also got a free make over by the most to die for man :D:D Can't belive how good I looked :)

Well back to 'normal' life now, off to catch the cat to take her to the vets for her jabs. OH promised to be home in time as I struggle to get her in the carrier.

Well I hope that school was good for everyone today.

Have fun tonight ........ am planning to go to the gym or if not a bike ride ( seems ages since I said that :) )

    Keep smiling

    65 here :)

Where has the day gone to? I'm shattered and I haven't done anything much. Did get the new microwave though and have now lost a corner as I had a huge basket with all the crisps etc in it which can't go on top of the new one because of all the air vents.

Gosh you're 65!!! You have so much energy for a retired lady...:D:D (just kiddin!!)
  • Thanks for the offer Purple Princess! If you were nearer I would have taken you up on the offer. :D

I seem to remember seeing something on television about co-operatives where people barter services or items, e.g. A person repairs a car for someone who will then mend that person's garden fence and so on. No money changes hands, people pay off the debt by doing job(s) for the person who did something for them. Does anyone know what they are called or know of a website where I could find out if one exists near me?? Thanks in advance.

I'm a 79 baby, DH is going to be 30 next year, but I'm a few years off yet.
Snowy, glad you got your doc note sorted, gives you chance to straighten yourself out.
PP your daugther looks lovely, bet your really proud.
I've been busy today, washing all done, DW emptied and refilled, washed down all the cupboards as well, just need to sweep the downstairs (all laminate). The cat is crying at me at the moment, as DH has just bought her a new toy and broken it immediately. She is trying to get it to work and cries if you don't play with her, even though he did for 10 mins and I did for another 20. She does look really cute though when she is playing.

snowy owl, see how you feel in two weeks time, but if things havnt improved make sure you see an older dr next time and write down how you feel to show him, it can be deceiving sitting there looking fine, when i went to dr years ago he had like a pack of cards and i had to put them in a yes, no pile without time to think about it and it was from that he decided i was depressed, take care x
  • afternoon.

    '79 here too.

I feel shattered as i have had a really busy day at work. I got quite a bit done, but i'm definitely taking a cushion with me tomorrow as i'm not used to sitting on a hard chair all day. I've managed to find a quiet space to work. A little corridor between 2 classrooms, where we normally sit naughty kids. :rotfl:

our y7s were the only kids back today, and it was really nice to see them looking really smart and enthusiastic. Give em a few weeks of it, and they will be as hormonal as the others. The rest are back tomorrow, so my corner may not be as quiet. ;)

PP and PP - hope your respective kids are happy this evening and looking forward to tomorrow. I would have loved that uniform. Mine was brown and gold, with a beige coloured blouse. Bleugh. Apparently very fashionable in the 70s when designed.

Also, nice to see your space Roz. It's great seeing what other people do. I may try to take a piccie of our new paint job for the living room. I'll wait till after the weekend though as we still have to do another coat of gloss, and put curtains/sockets/pictures etc on.

best go as i need the loo again. (only been a million times today) and i want to get the bm on and clean the kitchen sink before home and away at 6. Then i can slob about for the evening. I've been told it will be very warm tomorrow. Thought i'd best prepare you all. :D

    Michelle, xx
