Hello Csarina,
Welcome to Old Style and I am so glad that you are enjoying the board so much.
I hope that you don't mind if I merge your thread with the Old Style daily thread, but that is the best place to post and get replies to chatty posts on the Old Style board.

Snowy I can recommend the Mary Berry book, I've never had a failure from it.
I particularly recommend the fork biscuits, the oat rounds and the anzac biscuits, also all the tray bakes, the American chocolate wedding cake (made it for my mum's 60th) and the Christmas cake amongst many others including the lemon drizzle
Hi, Thriftlady! My fave is the iced apricot fruit loaf (page 242). I can't stop at one slice! Off to add apricots to my list for tomorrow................
Shez, it's "Mary Berry's Ultimate Cake Book". I bought it some years ago at a book fair, when I felt obliged to buy someting. Glad I did - loads of no-nonsense cakes. I like to send DD with something homemade in her pack-up, and Mary B has never let me down.

Morning everyone!
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 30th Sep 06. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Well that's the formalities over with - good morning, and I hope that this message finds everyone well and happy.
I had another sleepless night - I really should use this time to go Stardropsing around the house, but I really cannot be bothered! Much nicer to come on here for a browse, then hop back into bed for a nice read.
Big hugs to anyone who needs them.
Bye all.

Morning, Snowy, and all who follow!
Had a lovely evening at my friend's house. She cooked salmon, and it was beautiful. Think I'll buy some next week when I go to the fish market. Children went to school disco, and had a lovely time. They were'nt home until after 10pm, so not into bed until 10:30. Trying to decide whether to get them up to go to swim club? We need to be away by 7:40, to be into the water at 8:eek: . Think I'll wait to see whether they get up.
Morello cherry jam was a success - 1st time I've made it. Made 2 jars, so more than 100 cherries per jar. I don't have a stoner, so cooked the cherries and then fished out the stones. What a jobThink I'll invest in a stoner. Any advice where from, anyone? I'm making more today (double quantities this time, so 500 stones   )
Someone was asking if I'd have enough jarsI make all my own jam, chutney, marmalade, lemon curd, pickles, so save all my jars, and ask friends for some (they get a full one in return). I'll see if I can get some photos of the preserve shelf in my pantry, later.
Hoping for good weather today. DS has footie match, then I want to do some tidying in the garden, and pick the rest of the fruit and veg.
Have a good one, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Good Morning
I wanted a lie-in but woke up at 5.45am  You know when you lie there and think 'I'll just stay here, I'll drift back off in a mo'? Well not today, it's like my body was shouting 'I'm wide awake, get up NOW' :rotfl: Why does it only happen at the weekend? lol.
I was going to make some cakes today - good excuse to play with my new mixer - but I forgot to buy eggs
I've had breakfast, there's washing to put out, clothes to iron, animals to clean out and I need to hoover. I've been taping CSI so there's 3 episodes of that to watch, the house is all mine today so a lazy afternoon in front of the TV for me :TBulletproof0 -

Morning OSers,
Seems like none of us has had a decent nights sleep. I gave up with trying to sleep at 4am, couldnt breathe properly and keep coughing. Its been rather a productive decision though as I've made and iced 2 carrot and pinapple cakes, cream cheese icing - YUM. Also, made 2 dozen mini pizzas, all for the kids party later. Done the washing up and have strung 2 loads of laundry over various doors/banisters/rads etc . We are forcast for rain, thats why its all inside, knowing my luck it'll be dry and blow a gale today so I'll end up moving it all.
Am very tired now though so am vegging with the kids watching Hairy Maclary on DVD. They all have warm milk and I have STRONG coffee.
Need to get to Clarks at some stage today too as DD1's school shoes which cost £26 and are 3 weeks old are broken:mad: . I've phoned early in the week and reserved as many pairs in her size as they have in stock as shes a wide fit (G) and they dont often have any in. They've promised a full refund/exchange so we'll see.
Also GOT to crack on with filling in the shed foundation base with the gravel from the top of the garden, I started this job weeks ago and haven't gotten very far. I have the concrete to lay on top and that needs to be done before the rain sets in for winter.
Righto guys, I need more coffee so am off for now,
Have a good day,
Catcha later,
Al.
