  • Afternoon :hello:

Happy birthday to Dobie and mrbadexample :bdaycake:

I haven't managed to get on here for long enough to post since posting the Eastbourne pics on Saturday evening! Been busy - in fact I shouldn't really be on here now, as I've got a ginormous report to finish and publish by the end of the day. But coming on here is a sanity preserver ;)

Saturday night turned eventful when our front garden wall, and one of the earthenware pots behind it, had a "disagreement" with a speeding car (hit & run). Course I slept through it, despite having the front bedroom :o Wall is now lying in a heap the flowerbed looking sorry for itself, and housemate is getting onto the insurance company today. It should work out quite handily for him as he wanted to replace the wall anyway - but it doesn't bear thinking about what would have happened if one of the cats had been asleep behind the wall at the time.

Managed to get rid of lots more clutter yesterday - filled two binbags plus a carrier bag full of waste paper :j - and cleaned out my previously disgusting plastic bin from my bedroom with hot water and Stardrops :D Then Anthea came on the telly (the repeat from last week, which I hadn't seen, with the two house-shares) and I counted my blessings that their houses were a LOT worse than mine ;):D

I was chuffed on Friday, the payrise I've been waiting for SINCE JULY has finally been signed off and backdated! I had a figure in mind that I knew I'd settle for, with anything else being fantastic - and it was exactly the figure I was thinking of - about a £2k rise. Of course as s0d's law would have it, this happened just too late to get into this month's pay (tomorrow) but on the plus side it means that next month I'll get a bigger lump sum of back pay. I am trying to convince myself that this is A Sign From Above to tell me that I can buy the Miele washer-dryer I've fallen for, which is twice the price of my second-choice AEG one! :o:D The difference is probably worth just about the same as my back pay when you take into consideration that the Miele one has a free 5-year warranty and the AEG one would charge for an extension. (I don't normally bother with extended warranties but reckon it's worth it with washing machines.) I still don't know if I'll go for it though, as there are clearly a lot of other things I might need to spend my back pay on! I will give the numbers a good bashing and see what conclusion I come to. Ticklemouse has a Miele washing machine and has sung its praises to me (I think she did that WITHOUT me even mentioning that I thought I might want to buy one!)

Tonight (if I ever get out of the office) I need to think of what to do with a pound and a half of lean minced beef, on its use by date. Don't say freeze it, cos I haven't got any freezer space! I'll probably do bolognese or something. Chilli is my fave but I already have some in the freezer. Alternatively, I'd welcome any more imaginative ideas (bearing in mind I'm on a bit of a "storecupboard challenge"). On the other hand I might just give up, take something else out of the freezer that doesn't require any thought, and freeze the mince in its place!

Must go - hugs to all!
    Rzl xx

  • Hello. This is my first time posting on daily threads - have to admit to being very nervous! I am a lurker and read everyday but don't always get time to actually post so I will be popping on to write every so often but will always be following your posts...
Had quite a busy morning - dropped DD at school, took DS shopping with me, unpack shopping, unload WM, hang washing around house, collect DD from school (mornings until Christmas then she goes all day), made tomato and lentil soup (from another thread - and v scrummy). We are just about to go swimming and will then come home, play, make dinner (quesadillas and Mex rice tonight).
Oh!! I looked out Stardrops today and bought some!! I thought I had to see what the fuss is about and OMG!! I have awful patio doors in the kitchen that are covered in handmarks and dirt from where the kids hold the door to get in and out the garden. It takes so much elbow grease to shift with any other cleaner, but Stardrops?? Stardrops just breezed through it. I am gobsmacked. I am now itching to get my whole kitchen done today. Thankyou everyone who rates Stardrops.
Hope you all have a good day.
  • Welcome Little Miss Neat :j I must get myself some Stardrops and see what all the fuss is about.

Happy Birthday Dobie and Mr BE, thanks for sharing your e-card :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Hi everyone!
    Happy birthday Mrbadexample and Dobie!
Have had a really fab weekend as managed to get myself some thrifty threads for my birthday from the charity shop. Picked up an embroidered Next cardi, linen trousers and a matching jumper all from the same place for the princely sum of £15:j
Managed to whack through all my OS plans on Sat pm but my plans for yesterday had to be on hold and for a very good reason....I'm now the very proud owner of a little tortoiseshell moggie called Twitten. We only passed the home visit on Sat but you know how these things work!! Having not expected to get a cat quite that quickly we had to dash around madly getting bits before collecting her as most of the stuff we'd had with our other one had worn out. Anyway I'm pleased to say that the first thing she did when she got in was mug my OH on the way to the fridge for milk, feed her face and then land on my lap. She hasn't looked back since!!

Happy birthday to Dobie and mrbadexample (I don't know who Dobie is, but happy birthday anyway!)

Feeling quite poorly today. Think Ive got some sort of gastric flu. :( Still got a cough Ive had for a few weeks and now I feel achey and tired and am either hot or cold, as well as having the runs. Great. Parents are away and Im looking after their dog and chickens and need to go round and feed said dog in a minute. All I feel like doing is curling up in bed! DD2 wants pasta in sausagemeat and carrots for tea (which is yum, although Im off my food at the moment) but I warned her I may not be up to making it. She will have to finish off the carton of ready-made pasta sauce thats in the fridge instead! I have a freshly made loaf out of the BM and even that isn't tempting me at the moment.

Have a nice day everyone, hope you are all feeling better than I am!

    Hello Little_miss_neat :hello:

I've just got in from work, I didn't buy any fruit and veg. I got the bike out and it had a puncture  Couldn't find the repair kit so I caught the bus to work, and as I was leaving a woman from one of the other offices offered me a lift home :T

I can't actually be bothered to do anything now :o
