Hi earthmother, The cookie recipe is here
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=1550357&highlight=cookies#post1550357
For sunflower seed and raisin cookies I substituted half the flour for wholemeal flour and the choc chips for 2 oz of sunflower seeds and 2 oz of raisins.:)0 -
Morning - We are all full of cold here, the third in 4 weeks..
I have a delivery coming this morning but have to do the school run as well, I hope it doesn't turn up whilst I am out (just my luck).
My parents are coming over this afternoon so at least it will get me motivated to get the house clean. Mum is bringing me a huge bag of tomatoes as they have a glut at the moment and so I can't wait to make Tomato soup which in my family has the same comfort level as Jewish chicken soup (for the soul!). They are also bringing Aubergenes, courgettes and peppers so I will make ratatouille (sp?). I am really struggling to eat properly at the moment, I want to try and get into making smoothies so at least I can get enough fruit and veg.
Breakfast: Nothing
Lunch: Sandwiches probably.

Good morning Penelope-Penguin
Our Rayburn is solid fuel, needs filling and emptying twice a day and is a pita at times. It's never hot enough to make bread, but the oven is great for my polymer clay projects. We use the hob for cooking pasta/soups/stews etc. I spoke to Justin last night about a SC, and he's against it, so that's that really. After all, he's the cook & bottle washer round here most days.
It's not alight yet - HWMBO dictates when it's cold enough - and we've still got all doors and windows open here. Can't blame him really, it's his job to fetch coal and empty the ashes before he goes to work each day.
Age - are you making a cuppa for me too?
Pennypincher - hope all goes well for you at the hospital - I know only too well what it's like hanging around waiting
MrsMix - hope your arthritis doesn't play you up too much today too
I'm off to join Age in that cuppa now - tata for now....

Good morning everyone & Happy PAD day to you all.
This thread seems much more happier & upbeat today hence my post. I can't be doing with tiptoing around. Anyway onto OS matters, need to have a good tidy up, clear garden of random toys, clothes to be put away and prepare dinner of Lamb chops, new pots, veg.
I need to keep myself busy today, its the 5th Anniversary of my little brothers death and I want to wait till the little 'uns are in bed before I have a good cry:sad:
Have a good day everyoneIf you like it, do it.
If you don't like it, do it, you might like it

Hi MATH,
I was a little bit upset to read your post here, and feel that I need to respond.
I am well aware that Old Style has spiralled out of control this week, but I think your description of the board as being a mess is a bit harsh. I know that you were away for much of the summer, but had you been here, you would have known that Gingham Ribbon and I have worked very hard to keep the Old Style board running smoothly.
As you know, I received pm’s regarding the daily thread......Gingham and I were trying to resolve this behind the scenes. When I asked for Queenie’s thoughts/opinions, on the daily thread as it is now by pm, I did not know that she would open it up on the forum for debate. I am saddened by how the resulting debate has affected the board and the posters on the daily thread.
Yes I agree…..this week there have been a number of threads that perhaps should have been moved or merged, and I assure you that they will be done when we get time.
We are volunteers, and we have our own lives to live as well. Gingham has not been well lately and I have had an exceptional week in real life as I am covering for a colleague who is off work and doing her day shifts, as well as my own evening shifts. Yes, I do have a four hour window in the afternoon, but that is taken up with collecting my children, supervising their homework’s and making sure that they are fed and watered before I go out to work again. So, this week I am sorry if I haven’t given my all to the board, but I have been popping on, as and when I can.
To all who feel we are allowing the board to become a mess, please accept my apologies. Hopefully normal service will be resumed come Saturday when I begin my week off from work.
Pink
As you have publicly posted *about* me and my actions, I feel it is only fair that I respond.
Yes, you did PM me to ask my thoughts/opinions. Your initial PM was particularly vague and I asked for more clarity.
Yes, I did open it for debate, afterall, it didn't just affect myself, you or Gingham, but the whole of the community. Naturally, I would have had only 2 options: do nothing; do something.
Clearly, I wanted to support *you*, the BG, so I posted about it. I supported you in this matter of complaints in the same way that I have supported you when you were having difficulties in other matters, although admittedly I didn't do it publicly on the boards, but then those matters were with your MSE peers and not with the whole community.
You stated in your PM and also on the Daily Discussion Thread:
Pink-Winged wrote:I tend to agree that the thread is getting very long every day, but try as I might I have been unable to think of a sensible solution. It is not for me to decide what the content of the thread should be either. That is for the MSE team to decide.
So I’ll tell you all, as I have told the members who pm’d me, I intend to contact Andrea about this tomorrow to see if we can come up with a solution that will be acceptable to all the Old Stylers who read post, and get so much out of the the daily thread
I still do not think that the discussion has been quite as detrimental as some assume. I base my opinion on the PM's I've subsequently received as well as the posts within that discussion which brought into the open that there was in fact more than 3 who felt the daily thread did need tweaking.
However, all that aside, as you are BG, I had assumed that a certain level of impartiality was required but as evidenced in the Daily Thread for today I notice that you are in full support of the manner it is being conducted. *I* feel saddened that, despite people having the moral courage to come out and publicly express their dissatisfaction, in the hope that it may be given due respect, have had their views ignored and disregarded.
I say again, I posted that thread, not for my own personal desire for any changes, but in support of you and for the good of *all* the OS community and the smooth running of the daily thread. To awaken this morning and to read your comments above and to see the daily thread for today which you are fully supportive of leads me to think that I have been used as a scapegoat to address an issue which wasn't presented to me by anyone else other than yourself!
I say again, I believed a BG has to excercise certain level of impartiality, and consistency, another reason why I opened up the discussion. Thank you for correcting me by your posts and support of those who are in rebellion over the very issue of changes.
Did I make a mistake in posting it for debate? Possibly, it gave a platform for others to give their opinions, despite the flack I have taken personally. How those members feel in light of the most recent rebellion is not difficult for me to imagine.
Did I make a mistake in posting it for debate in support of yourself? Clearly! But then, in all fairness, the question begs to be asked: "Should a BG be taking these matters to a member of the forum in the first instance?"
I have no regrets. I said it before and I shall say it once again: I am able to put my personal preferences to one side on this issue and to discuss it for the benefit of the community. I haven't been discussing this for any personal reason or gain. I have tried to give a balanced, unemotional, explanation of why certain aspects are not practicable. I did not make any complaints about the daily, it's content, it's length, it's format.
I did make the mistake of (gullibly?) putting my self in a position to be questioned when the complaints were still very much unknown or evidenced, in the mistaken belief that I was being supportive of the person who came to me and asked for my opinion and advice; opinion and advice I, yet again mistakenly, believed was respected or why ask for it?
I have invested a lot of time in the issue of the daily thread.
I am deeply saddened at how emotional and personal the whole issue has become mainly because I believed we were all grown ups and that playground games and emotions were left behind at the school gate. I am more appalled that the person who turned to me has subsequently negated responsibility over the whole issues and publicly attaches any blame for any upset at my door! But, I live and learn
Ultimately, you are the BG, I am just a member, as too is MATH, ticklemouse and everyone who has expressed support in the need for a few tweaks, both old and new members. I abide by which ever format is deemed most appropriate.

Morning all
I've got a busy morning, clearing up the remainder of last night dishes, we had my parents round for dinner, first time in the new house. DH cooked so every pot in the kitchen has been used (well it seems like it), I did most of it last night, but some of the things needed a soak so will tackle them shortly.
The house had a good clean yesterday (in honour of my folks) so not much needs doing today, which is just as well as I have to go into London later today for a posh meal this evening at my offices, and then a late train home. I just hope this sickness I have been feeling for the last few days doesn't stop me enoying it (I'm desperately hoping the sickness is cause I'm pg, but am waiting til I'm due Tuesday to actually do a test).
I actually put pink top on today when I got up before reading the thread so Happy PAD, Pink.
