Would it be worth my while to buy a slow cooker? Bear in mind I'm vegan. I'd only use it in summertime as I have a Rayburn alight during the winter.

    Advice please!

    Hi MATH,

I was a little bit upset to read your post here, and feel that I need to respond.

I am well aware that Old Style has spiralled out of control this week, but I think your description of the board as being a mess is a bit harsh. I know that you were away for much of the summer, but had you been here, you would have known that Gingham Ribbon and I have worked very hard to keep the Old Style board running smoothly.

As you know, I received pm’s regarding the daily thread......Gingham and I were trying to resolve this behind the scenes. When I asked for Queenie’s thoughts/opinions, on the daily thread as it is now by pm, I did not know that she would open it up on the forum for debate. I am saddened by how the resulting debate has affected the board and the posters on the daily thread.

Yes I agree…..this week there have been a number of threads that perhaps should have been moved or merged, and I assure you that they will be done when we get time.

We are volunteers, and we have our own lives to live as well. Gingham has not been well lately and I have had an exceptional week in real life as I am covering for a colleague who is off work and doing her day shifts, as well as my own evening shifts. Yes, I do have a four hour window in the afternoon, but that is taken up with collecting my children, supervising their homework’s and making sure that they are fed and watered before I go out to work again. So, this week I am sorry if I haven’t given my all to the board, but I have been popping on, as and when I can.

To all who feel we are allowing the board to become a mess, please accept my apologies. Hopefully normal service will be resumed come Saturday when I begin my week off from work.

Thanks for that Learning to Save, but I've had a peek and there doesn't seem to be anything there that answers my question about it being suitable for vegans really. I'm not THAT new! I can use the search button! :D

    Hugs,
    Jo

  • Pink-winged, none of the last day or so has been your fault, you do a great job!! Yes it's sad the tone that has been taken in the last day or so, but given time and space, things will get back on track. I think you will find that the vast majority appreciate the difficult job you and gingham undertake for free!!! ( no criticism of anybody especially Math) You take care and be aware we are all very grateful to you for your efforts on our behalf!!!

Please do not apologise, when no apology is necessary or even justified!!!!!!

  • well if you do it all one one(or two) lines like i did rather than all on single lines with a gap in between it doesnt take up too much room see,.......all tidy and small:D

just noticed the windows seem a buit grubby and smeary with the light shining on them so will have to whip out the stardrops and microfibre cloth later.

Pink, i agree with LtoS and Churchmouse, you board guides do a brilliant job, and hopefully things will settle down now without the need for you or Gingham to have anymore extra to do.
