Well done cat, we're having a lasertag party for my DS in November and I am getting his 2 dads to go along instead of me :D

As for bargains - see end of previous page :D

Shez - I do sympathise, I have 3 of them but the only one I really treasured was the one with the sloping bottom and that got broken when XDH decided it should go into the cellar :(

    Hi all :hello:

I haven't been on this site since Friday pm but it seems as though I have missed a lot in such a short space of time.

Me too! We went to fetch our little puppy on Friday (the breeders live an hour and a half from me) and she's beautiful. Plus Ive had computer problems and have been trying to sort them out. Im going to be receiving a bit of money as compensation for whiplash in a couple of months hopefully and I was thinking of getting a new computer with this. I hope the money comes sooner rather than later because I think my computer may be on its way out!

Hello to everyone and hugs for everyone who needs them!

    Hugs Fay,

I think that you need to set aside a regular date night with OH to ensure that you spend some qualtity time togerther. Sometimes men are extremely thoughtless. Also think that you need to have words about the housework it sounds like your working as hard as him and a more equal division of labour is appropriate.

I totally agree! Sometimes men really need a kick up the a**e! I went through a stage like this with my husband where he was working all week, plus Saturday mornings and then he played football Sunday morning and just wanted to sleep all afternoon Sunday! I was left most of the time on my own with a toddler and a baby as well as working part time. It made me wonder what the point of being married was! He wouldn't miss football even if I was really ill in bed with no energy for looking after the babies. I can tell you, it nearly finished our marriage! Things are so different and much better now and we're both happy with how things are, but its happened gradually. Sometimes I would go on strike for a couple of days and, apart from looking after the kids, I wouldn't so much as lift a cup to put it in the dishwasher if it wasn't one I'd used. The house started to look a disaster and my hubbie soon realised just how much work I did round the home!

Sometimes you have to give them a complete shock (like moving out!) and it makes them take notice. Why is it that men can't see what you're trying to tell them and just switch off thinking "off she goes again"

    Hello again everyone

I have to eat my words...I fell asleep again, but can't even begin to tell you how much better I feel for it.

Things have been a bit slack here in my house to say the least, but I feel like I could actually manage to get some essentials done today. And yes, before you ask, reading this thread and posting here is essential in my view. It is fantastic to read the support which is given so readily here - even if it's not aimed at me, it is still a boost to see that someone else is being given a virtual hug and a helping hand to get through their days/difficulties. Everybody...give yourself a big big pat on the back!

Shez...sorry to hear about your broken bowl. Perhaps you just need to sit down with a nice cup of tea and the remote control and do some vegetating for half a day. Would OH take the kids out for a couple of hours so that you can catch up on yourself?

Tired Mum...I was feeling so sorry for you yesterday (or was it the day before). You sounded desperate for a long, long sleep and some peace. Then today you slip in that you're off to Butlins (OK not jealous of that!) and then 11 weeks after that you're off to the Carribean!!! Oh well I am definitely a v.vivid shade of green now...but then you deserve it. Get some brochures before you go, and start planning the next holiday, so that you do have something to look forward to.

AussieLass...electric sockets...that is one thing I got a bit wrong in my house. I had the opportunity to say where they went, but at the time I was under a lot of stress (starting down depresssion path actually, but undiagnosed & somewhat confused) so the sockets went in some funny places. If I could do it all again I'd have one inside every door (for the vacuum cleaner), and a double in every corner of every room. Putting in that many may have cost me quite a bit extra, but too many is way better than too few and I am wishing now I had spent the money. Oh and if you are thinking of built in wardrobes in any bedroom make sure the sockets aren't too close to what would be the back wall of the wardrobe. That was another of my mistakes - would love built in wardrobes, but the sockets would be inside them..grrr! Well, I'm thinking of selling up, but just saying anyway in case I say something which may be useful to you.

PenPen - I'm reading The Complete Tightwad Gazette - it's massive! Over 800 pages long. The style of it suits me great though - short articles and snippets. Over the summer I tried to get started on a number of novels but didn't really get anywhere with them. At my worst I was unable to read anything - I'd quite literally read a paragraph about ten times then have to give up because I couldn't remember what it said by the time I got to the end. So while I'm not that bad now I'm still struggling with longer pieces - the Tightwad Gazette is fabulous as it's a book, but not a story and it doesn't matter if I forget bits.

Joannasmum...nosey MIL syndrome isn't too nice. Maybe it's a bit like having a manager who's a bit too intrusive or overbearing. It's good that your OH is willing to have a wee chat. Glad you're getting your car back - the gits could so easily have torched it. I do feel terribly sorry for those who were held up in the robbery - that would take a long long time to get over, but of course that's unrelated to you.

Ageandjo - have you tried putting a thick dusting of bicarb on that smelly stain and leaving it there for a few hours? That may absorb some of the whiff.

Moggins...you've inspired me to go to a car boot sale next weekend - can't believe how much stuff you got!

Onwards and upwards, gotta go and get a few things done. Bye for now.

i wish i could take everyone here with us as i think we are all deserving of a nice holiday and the support we give each other is second to none i felt so much better after a good cry and a nights sleep and that the end is in sight as this is my last weekend working

    Hi All,

A busy weekend for me. Driving lesson yesterday went well (ish) the manouvers are still getting the better of me. The more I think about them the worse the get! When I just get on with it I can do it all fine. It seems the 3/4's of pupils who have tests at Leighton Buzzard are asked to do a reverse bay park (!) so next week we will be nailing that one.

Went out with DD1 and her little friend and mum yesterday for some girly time. It was LOVELY. We had a nice coffe and the girls shared a hot choc, all feeling very grown up. We let them loose to play in early learning after that, they loved it and we didnt spend anything so fab!

After that I went to ASDA where they seem to have some weird deals ATM. Packs of 4 tubes of smarties are £1.08 each or 2 for £1 (!) and 12 packs of pepsi are £3.59 each or 2 for £3!!! I didnt think it would work but it did, as the second pepsi went through the till said -£4.18!!!! And I have £5.65 or coupons to use too so am feeling just a bit smug!!

Today I have finished digging out the hole for the concrete base for the garden shed. I have (single handedly mind!) dug a hole measuring 8ft x 10ft to a depth of 6 inches!! Knackered does not begin to describe it! Now I have to haul down bucket upon bucket of large gravel to fill in and level off the hole then the neighbour and I can begin to do the concrete. Then I have to make up the shed!!

Also need to crack on with the cooking, I have a lump of beef, some fairy cakes, some flapjacks, a batch of bolognaise and a quiche to be getting on with.

Am firstly going to have a coffee :p and browse for 10 mins.

    Love and hugs to all,
    Al.
