    Hi again everyone :D
Welcome to lavidalocal and all other newbies (not been on much so not really sure who's new and not now, soz)
I've managed to get my franny (as fl would say) into gear and spent 3/4 hour cleaning (in 3 consecutive session - I love to hear the 'chimes' to know I'm getting there) Gave myself 15 minutes to 'chill' and would you know that when the beeper went I'd not done anything for myself! The entire 15 minutes were spent answering various 'maa- aaaam's lol. So I've decided that another 10 mins TO MYSELF was called for - even if only to ensure me tabs go down (I have one type that is quite stubborn and tends to burn if not taken with lots of fluid)
Snowy - I really hope you find another job. I remember quite some time ago wondering if it was something like that at the root of your sleep problems, purely because I went through the same. Leaving that job was the best thing I ever did. Ironically once I left I started saving a small fortune by not buying the various 'treats' I indulged in to keep me going when there (latte's, nice sarnies etc)
Oh dear, my ten mins are up,
    Hugs to all,
    Kaz x

Don't forget to factor in the 10% colleague discount in as well - 10% off your food bill over a year is well worth it. There is an upper limit - £6,000 I think, but it may have increased lately. The % discount usually goes up in December as well, so you get more at Christmas.
Plus you get first dibs on all the deals & reduced items!

Thanks everyone for you messages of support, I really appreciate it.
I went back to bed but was still awake at 6am so my cunning plan (to offload my worries onto you lot :D ) so I could go back to sleep didn't work as well as I'd hoped. I did manage another couple of hours though so I still feel like death warmed up but at least I'm warm.
I spent nearly an hour on the phone to his dad (ex DH) this morning talking through everything, he wasn't aware how bad things are at the moment & I have to admit I feel a bit better now I've shared it with him. My DH (the current & final Mr Dobie) is wonderful but he isn't his dad & can't feel it in the same way as me & exDH. ExDH has agreed to go round today & plumb the washing machine in for him. I'll feel better when that's done too because, much as he wants it, it would be typical of DS to sell it to buy booze & he's less likely to do that if it's up & running.

The thing that's prompted the latest crisis is that he's just lost his job through coming into work smelling of alcohol. Did I say that this morning? I can't remember, sorry if I'm repeating myself.

    Snowy
I'm really glad you're feeling more positive today. It sounds like you've come to the realisation that the job's just not worth it. Thanks for your suggestion about rganisations that can help. We have an advisory service through work that I intend to ring on Monday & they have experts in this field. I've given the number to DS because it's for families as wel, although I'm not convinced he'll use it. In the past I've actually driven him to the door of a counsellor, dropped him off & after I'm out of site he's walked away. I can't make him do it, just encourage him.

I didn't intend to go on again - sorry - thanks for listening to me & I promise to try to be more cheerful next time I post.

  • hugs to you dobie. alcoholism or any other addiction is one thing you can't fight off for someone, as much as you want to. Our family has been through it. My mum no longer speaks to her brother because of it, as he constantly would turn up drunk and cause lots of bother, or come sober and begging for money. Prior to that, all 4 of my nana's brothers were that way out too, so there is a worry it is genetic. My mum had a big heart to heart with me about drinking, and i don't even drink that much.

I've finally caught up on reading the threads today. I have been shattered this week after babysitting my nephews. I pray to god that it is easier with your own kids who are used to doing things your way and following your rules. It's really hard with them as she has no routine for them and they are used to paddying until they get what they want.

DH's dad is stopping here this weekend to help him finish the decorating, so it's been an early start again today. Although i was awake anyway at 6:30 with a really strong braxton hicks contraction. I'm sat on the wireless network in bed, and leaving them to it. I've lots of school prep to do, but can't be bothered as i know i only have 20 days to endure.

I have managed to get a load through the WM, make up the spare bed, and go to the local shop. I did have more on my list, like hoovering, but don't see the point while they are making mess downstairs.

Will go make some lunch i think, as i only had yoghurt and prunes for breakie, and i feel starving. Bacon butties i think. Yum.

    Michelle, xx
  • Afternoon all.

Not had a great few days. Ended up in hospital at 3am friday morning, with a suspected perforated bowel. Had serious stomach cramps that would not go away, so contacted the on call doctors who sent me straight in. Ended up on a drip and a large dose of morphine. By 7am the pain had gone, all tests were clear so still none the wiser. The only thing thay can think of, was that it may have been a small infection from the colonoscopy I had tuesday.
    Very scary though.

Feeing a little better. Have had orders from DH to rest, so making the most of it. He has even doen the ironing!!!! First time in 6 years. must get ill more often:rotfl:

Weather is wet and miserable, may manage to do some baking with DD later.

    Have a good day.

Ow Smashing (((hugs))) to you. Glad to hear you seem to have recovered though.
Another 3/4 hours done in the kitchen and it now resembles something I'd be willing to cook in. The two younger boys are playing up so much even the eldest has had enough of them.
Joined Freecycle last night - no jars offered at the mo, but someone has offered some clothes that might be good for my eldest. I've replied using the 'reply' button in the email I had notifying me about the offer - is that the right way to do it??
Yikes!!! my 10 mins is nearly up!!! - tackling the boxes that are in the L/R since the bootsale (last Sunday!!!!) next. I may be gone some time!!
