Hello all
Been a bit sidetracked for the last couple of days, as I'm grabbing every spare moment to knit knit knit and get my sofa blankie finished.I've only got the top border to finish and then sew both top and bottom borders on and its done. I've made it completely from donated wool - either from family & friends or freecyclers, so its a wonderful bonus. My son has decided that it is to become the family heirloom and he's intending on handing it down to his children. He's only 8, so I rather suspect it won't last that long, but its a lovely idea!
In our hike around Asda yesterday, we pounced upon an extra-large £5 chicken reduced to £2.30 and so that's been chuckling in the SC all day. I put a quartered orange, plus home grown bayleaves and rosemary in with it and it smells divine. I shall dismember it later and we can have half for tomorrow's dinner as a roast and freeze half for another day. :T Fantastic!
I'm currently on a low fat/no fat diet and one of the ladies on another Forum recommended a fat-free Weetabix cake, so I made it today and its fabulous! So easy - 2 Weetabix in a bowl with half a pint of milk, half a pound of sultanas and two dessertspoons of brown sugar. Leave for half an hour, add a beaten egg and half a pound of self raising flour. Tip out into a loaf tin and bake in a medium oven until a skewer comes out clean. Its very like a malt loaf, but smells like Xmas cake! Of course, one has to be aware of the sugar content, but its fairly guilt-free otherwise and will make a great alternative to dried fruit in DS's lunchbox.
Other than that, I got today's aerobic exercise by wrestling with my sofa cushions whilst getting them back into their covers which were washed yesterday. I knew the covers were dirty, I just didn't realise how dirty until they dried and were five shades lighter. I blame my OH, who spends all day laying on the thing. Nobody else gets a look-in, so it can't be the rest of us!
Anyway - dinner dishes are calling and then I can get back to my knitting. :T Have a great evening, one and all.:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:Weight loss since 2 March 10 : 13lbs0 -
Afraid I haven't got a lot done today, had some very sad news that has shaken me - why is it that bad things seem to happen to lovely people?
Have to find the right words to put in the card (I don't think there are any to be honest) just need to let them know that I am thinking of them.
Sorry for such a downer of a post - the news has made me feel that we have been very blessed and must make the most of the happy times (every minute) and hug our children tight.
Lovely oh went out and bought me a new bm (panasonic) to cheer me up as the other one gave up and baked its last loaf back in august and I have missed it. Also went to the local mill shop for some organic wholemeal bread flour so will have a go tomorrow, will be good to focus on this.
Must get back to flyladying tomorrow as well.
(((hugs))) to all

Hi all
thanks for your advice about the chicken. I'd already planned to get more than one meal out of it.
We'll just have the chicken on saturday instead of sunday. (Leave the meatballs in the freezer 'til next week).
What's best for chicken pie - campbells mushroom soup or chicken soup? I've got a chicken one in the cupboard - I usually make my own white sauce but think I might give the soup a whirl - will it be too chickeny?
Sent DH and kids off to park for 1/2 an hour - peace and quiet. Was supposed to clean but here I am instead.
