With a lot of comps (esp. email) they're probably grouped by entry times rather than by your name, so it could depend more on whether you enter in a big group just before it closes or as soon as it opens rather than what you're called!Al Mac Appreciation Society (AMAS) member # 6½

Thanks, CC. I hope you're right !0

I think comps are growing more and more popular now as more people are noticing they can actually win if they enter enough. So that could be a reason for a drop in wins or not getting any wins, like other people said its just luck of the draw. Thanks to everyone that posts :T:money:

You have a good point there Laura, I also think that the influx of newbs, myself included, were drawn to MSE due to the "dreadit" crunch and then some of us found our way here, I'm very glad I did stumble this way tooThat ain't working! That's the way to do it, money for nothing and TV's for free0

I'm probably a bit late to the party with this, having been on holiday when the debate was raging, but I do use the comps ending lists. they didn't exist when I started last year so I started at the back of the comps & worked my way forward & for a while I was actually up to date & sat eagerly waiting for new comps to be posted. However due to unforeseen circumstances I had to stop comping late last year & when I returned to it in March(ish) I did a few comps ending & I'll admit got a bit lazy & stuck to doing them each day.
Having read everyone's comments on here though I've started at the back again & I'm determined to do it properly again. I might just check the ending lists occasionally though, just in case I've missed anything
It's just my personal opinion but I think that noobs use the lists because they can start winning straight away ( ie the comp ends tomorrow so I could get a win this week) and then just get used to comping that way.
For what it's worth I had more wins from comping the "old" way than from using the ending lists.
BTW I've also made a pact with myself to post more, am guilty of being a bit of a lurker (I'm a bit shy) I always read what going on in here & the Inn but find it hard to join in, not 'cos your not nice people or anything but cos I feel like a new kid in the playground
Anyway waffle over (sorry much longer than I planned)Thanks to all who post comps :A :T0 -

A couple of things I've been pondering over and wanted to get input on others from.
Email Comps - is no email subject heading is specified do you just leave it black or do you make up your own subject?
Comps with A B C Answers - do you give the answer as either A, B or C or do you put the actual answer eg Pink or do you put both i.e (C) Pink
TIA for any opinions!0 -

Hey rachSometimes you just have to dive right on in there & post like you did today
It's the same for everyone though, we all came along & although when I first got here we had no pub, it's a case of having a read & seeing if there's anything you want to comment on or just let other people know. Oftentimes someone asks for a point of view so yours is just as valid as anyone elses
I'm glad your personal stuff from the end of last year which stopped you comping is resolved enough that you can come back to us here : ) Just jump on in & join in the conversation even when it does get slightly crazy
Hope you have a few wins soon to kick you back into 'adrenaline rush mode' when postie pops along to your doorSad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0
