People actually say to us "it's alright for you - you can afford it".......

Yes I have had that one too:mad: and someone actually said (a family member too) "See, its alright for you as you are quite lucky with money aren't you". Funny that, the harder we work and the more sensible with money we are....the luckier we get:rotfl:But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -
I'm with you all on the supermarket and cashback things - people who moan about having 'no money' when they spend loads on M&S food.. my top one is probably people who say "ooh you always seem to get bargains" when you tell them about deals (one of my work colleagues in particular), as if the bargains magically throw themselves at me, and aren't available to them!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Nothing much bugs me anymore, I try and help people regarding cash back/cheaper insurance/budgetting but when people dont take it on board I kinda stop trying. There is one thing that annoys me, when people say, oh you have savings therefore why do you have to save more/why arnt you going on holiday this year :rotfl:  :mad:0

Oooooh, I'm liking this thread
My bug bear is when people assume because I'm a single parent that I must be poor  Don't get me wrong, I'm not rolling in it but I am very careful with my money and I like to think I am in control of my finances and making good decisions about my money. If anything I'm better off now than when I had a partner  My Mum in particular thinks I only do mystery shopping, quidco, ebay, visit here etc purely because I don't have any pennies left
If she sees anything I've put aside for ebay she'll ask how much I think I'll get for it, then she says she'll give me the money instead if I need it
She doesn't get the fact that I enjoy the challenge

Oh no, now you've got me going............................
I have one friend in particular that always tells me how careful she is with money and could not cut back any more (two new cars, all the latest gadgets, nights out regularly etc etc...) and then has the cheekk to tell me how lucky I am that i'm good with money!!! Erm no thats not luck, I work hard, hubby works hard and we want to use our money to gain the max, not for the banks/credit card companies to take loads of interest off us!!
we put money away every month and when we've got enough we book a hol, not before!

Great Thread
I have TONS of bugbears when it comes to things fiscal:
I agree with Hypno06, PAP and benbenandme. My family cadge because I'm more frugal than them. One even cited the reason for NOT paying her share of a joint purchase was she'd just spent £110 on jeans:mad:. People ALWAYS make the assumption that because I save I should somehow adopt their spending habits and if I'm "caught" saving money it's assumed I'm skint. Weird !
Is my clock on this website OK? Looks like you lot are up with the lark:DGrocery Challenge M: £450/£425.08 A: £400/£.May -£400/£361 June £380/£230 (pages 18 & 27 explain)0 -
I didn't think men used more toilet roll than women or do they?
My OH does. I'd love to know what he does with it all - eat it? The "squash the roll on the holder" trick doesn't work, he has his own separate roll sitting on top of the cistern! And he's an expert at telling the top brand from the others.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

We get that too... the "you both have well paid jobs so you can afford to buy us expensive stuff/lend us money/etc"... uhmmm yes we have well paid jobs, but we work darned hard doing them! People don't see the stress that comes with these kinda jobs and the extra hours you work at home when there is a problem with something. All they see is the cars parked at home so we MUST be lazing about "pretending" to be working... Uhmmm... we wouldn't have jobs for long if that was the case!
And OHs family is the worst offenders - they have "borrowed" so much money that now even HE has said enough. Don't get me wrong I'll always look after family BUT they seem to expect it! And that gets my back up!
Another gripe is when people are 2 weeks away from pay day and are so skint they can't pay their bills but can afford their daily £1.20 coffee and £1 croissant fix... Uhmmm WHAT!?!
I have loads... will go calm down by doing some Tesco shopping then post a few more LOLDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
