What do people do that 'wastes' money that really drives you mad?
I have a friend who cooked for me the other night. She bought chopped tomatoes, name brand with added mixed herbs! Now, she isn't in any debt, nor is she particularly hard up as she still lives at home BUT she spent about 65p on these tomatoes!
I asked her if she had a knife? She said yes, and told her I had mixed herbs so to buy the value whole tinned toms for 20p. AND SHE WOULDN'T.
Now I know I probably seem a bit insane with all my money saving stuff at the moment but I just cannot bare to see people wasting money like that!!! It drives me crazy!
And don't even get me started on people who don't use coupons. It's free money!!!! WHY wouldn't you take it????

    Hi Jak

My lodger gets through toilet roll like it's fresh air and he's hardly ever here! I'm doing an experiment at the moment. I put a new one out today for him to use. I also took a new one for me to use although I have that one hidden. I bet his will be gone long before mine! I didn't think men used more toilet roll than women or do they?

He also falls asleep and leaves his light on and the tv on all night unless I turn them off. Last year just before he left to move in with his gf I came home late one night to find every light in the house on, gas fire on full pelt, my tv on downstairs, his tv on upstairs and the front door wide open! I've spent the last 6 months trying to reduce my electricity consumption to bring my DD under control! I managed it and now he's come back! I've upped his rent though, considerably! lol!

If I think of any more I'll post again. I think I'm going to like this thread. Thanks for making it Jak!

    Will do Jak.

Some lodgers should carry liability warnings! I forgot to mention he left my freezer open in the garage too. Everything spoiled as I didn't find out till a day or two later as I'd used stuff out of the cupboard/fridgfreezer in the kitchen! He puts lights on even in the daytime! I think he does it on purpose to make sure he gets his rentsworth! I probably only just break even all things considered! lol

Re toilet roll - I saw a tip on here that if you squeeze the toilet roll a bit so it's squashed it's not so easy to roll it off, so you should in theory use less;)

My Bug bear just recently, is when I tell friends about "FREE PONTINS HOLIDAYS" & they say " I might ring later" I say "but they'll be gone!!!" & get "oh well" & they book some stupid expensive week away using a Haven brochure, for the same hols they could have for nothing, or could have had for half the price by saving Sun tokens!

I have friends who spend a fortune in M&S or Sainsburys as they seem to think it gives them a better image. One friend wont even use the car park next to Aldi in town as she is worried that someone may see her car and think she is shopping in there.

Supermarket snobbery is my biggest

They also bring in expensive prepared salads/sandwiches/wraps from said shops and think they are being savvy by not eating in the works canteen for lunch:rotfl: I saw the price on a Thai prawn salad and it was £3.70:rolleyes:
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

Toilet roll is my bug bear too! My ex OH used to insist on the most expensive, soft brand name stuff and used to moan when I bought the cheap supermarket stuff for less than half the price. Apparently he used to notice the difference!

My bugbear is not so much about what other people spend their money on......that is up to them.

But it does bug me when people see me doing the "extra" stuff that I do to raise money - use quidco, do matched betting, free bingo, ebay, surveys and stuff........and they say "it's not really worth the effort"..........

One day I did a mystery shop - got £15 so a decent one, but it involved a bus journey and a round trip of about 40 miles. (bus was free, so still worth doing) and my friend said that surely I had better things to do with my time!

It may not be worth the effort to them, but for me it has paid for an awful lot and I wish they would either support me, or alternatively just let me get on with it!!!!

My bugbear is when I tell people about Quidco, free money when they want to change utilities, buy stuff online and they say ah its more hassle than its worth....Why? Ive made over £300 on quidco just by changing insurance etc not even buying things.
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....
    Finally Debt Free...

I agree with you on the quidco thing!!! I've told loads of people about it, but only one has used it & thanked me as they saved £25 on something they were buying anyway, ok not the hugest amount of money, but rather in their pocket than the shops!!
