I guess for me, it's people thinking we are or should be super rich. Although we do have a decent income we don't earn the millions people seem to think we do. And, we are often expected to shop in designer stores, drip with bling and pay for everyone else when we go out (mostly family are the culprits here). But the reality isn't like that at all.:A

Oh and bump due 3rd Dec 09' mummy to be for the first time :T0 -
I had a classic one of these recently, my friend at work asked if she could have the overtime shifts available because she's skint. She's skint because she's going on holiday for a month - well actually three separate holidays but back to back. And a week of it with her family, she doesn't really want to go.
She's so naive but it drives me mad.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
I buy quite a lot of books from charity shops. Dh travels abroad for weeks at a time so library books are a no-no. We were down town a couple of weeks ago and I told him I was going to look for some books for him. He said that there was no way I was getting him into a charity shop. I walked into one anyway and he followed. I couldn't get him back out! His arms were full of books. He got 2 bags full for £11. He said at the airport it costs £20 for 3 books. He was impressed.0

My biggest bug bear at the moment is cooking/food budgets. with friends and also on here with newbies.
Things like its's just me and OH and we spend say £400 a month on food. the automatic response is £400 is way too high for 2 adults. you could easy cut this in half by doing X Y or Z and then they respond with some excuse as to why they must spend £100 a week on food that is ultimatly increasing there own debt.
Really each to their own but it does get to me that I have taken the time to read and reply to their posts, I understand that every suggestion isn't for everyone but at the very least they should be considered and not just dismissed.
A friend of mine lives alone and regularly spends £££ on the brand name pastas and seperate sauces for one. I think its around £1.20 for the cooked pasta and £1.09 for the sauce. This same person then moans and complains about her 'bills' yet buys all her clothing on store cards and only pays the bare minimum. Her usual reply is oh but it only costs 2 quid for a whole meal, i dounbt i could make that cheaper. hmm i reckon buying in bulk and batch cooking the sauce I could do the same for less than 25p a portion. She spends about £70 a week on food + takeaways for just her  Then complains that she can't afford to do whatever. :mad:MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -

Wow, I'm smiling and nodding in agreement to most of these!! Great thread!:D
With me, it's people constantly wasting money on the little things that annoys me. I know someone who buys a newspaper every day without fail, and yet she admits to not having the time to read it - then why continue to buy them?! I recently added up the cost over a year, and she was pretty shocked when I told her it was almost £200:eek: ! And she could read them online for free!
Another woman spends at least £5 every day in the shop at work - on sandwiches, drinks, snacks - if only she would make her own lunch she would save herself a fortune! I mean, how difficult is it to make a sandwich?!
And I completely relate to the Quidco thing too - one of my friends absolutely refused to believe that I have really made over £500 free money from Quidco - even when I logged in to my Quidco account and showed her the payments!! "There must be a catch" apparently  !! Some people just won't be told...MFiT-T5 #52 - aiming to clear mortgage completelyJanuary 2019: £19620 ~ November 2021: £0.00!0 -
My bugbear is when I tell people about Quidco, free money when they want to change utilities, buy stuff online and they say ah its more hassle than its worth....Why? Ive made over £300 on quidco just by changing insurance etc not even buying things.
You can't write that...that's EXACTLY what I was going to type :rotfl:
I get so fustrated with it and promise myself I won't mention Quidco anymore to those who have ignored me but I can't help it....I have a big gob0 -
It's annoying isn't it! I've got a friend who never has any money but goes out every weekend! She moans about it all the time but if I suggest she does a budget she WON'T! Well don't moan about it...AND if she didn't go out on the p1ss so much, she'd be able to eat more than beans on taost now wouldn't she!
It's haard because I used to be just like her...I shudder to think of how wasteful I've been in the past! I just couldn't do it now!2022 Comp total (prizes + free spins): £494.81 #20 £12 a day Jan: £382.95/£372 #57 360 1p challenge: £17.70 £10 a day Feb: £571.09/£280 March: £311.96/£3100 -
Family who don't work, don't wanna work, but think that because we have money we should sub them for coming to visit us... Uhmmm NO! Not gonna happen! Get a job, stop wasting money then I'll help you out where I can within reason... I mean I still send my brother at Uni food parcels (to Denmark lol) but he works hard, and doesn't p!ss money up the wall etc... and he loves getting food parcels from his big sis - nothing like kilos of dried pasta and tins of tomato's to really win over your younger sibling :rotfl:
But his other sister and brother... would rather buy the latest fashion or game station and then have to call daddy for money to pay the rent... *sigh* took years before my mum and stepdad closed the bank of lending to them. Neither of them have had jobs long enough to pay a penny of it back either... gah!DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
