I usually hand-wash my "good" (Bravissimo) ones (soak in the handbasin overnight, good wash in the morning and hang to drip in the bathroom). I used to do them in the w/m and I never had a wire come out in the machine but I have had one come adrift when I was wearing the bra.....darned thing stabbed me in the armpit when I was in a meeting at work .
The M&S ones go in the machine!Obedient women are never remembered in History!

Ditto the size wannbee sybil, it seems I have been unlucky in losing over half a dozen wires in my washer! ( do you use bravissimo too?)0

I used to put them in a laundry bag in the machine with jumpers, on a delicate wash.
As I never had a problems with this, I started throwing them in the normal 40c cotton wash - still no problems.
Now those laundry bags are useless & develop holes, so I stopped bothering with them as they don't last two minutes.
So I started putting them in loose. No problems.
I bought an Elomi bra - I had heard them recommended on here. It "was" fantastic, hoisted them up, separated them lovely (hate the mono boob effect), best bra ever & so comfortable.
Then I washed it:(
The middle bit where the under-wires meet has just disintegrated, it looks like its been chewed & burned:(:(:(:(
Its ruined:(:(:(:(
I think I need a pillowcase & a big long strong zip & to make my own bra bag that will last.0 -

I have always just washed mine in the machine along with everything else, not in a bag. The only problem i have had is sometimes the underwires get a bit mis -shapen.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
I always put my bras in an underwear bag, and my machine has a Handwash setting so I use that and just put them in with other delicates, or some towels. Then again, if they're a bit grotty (come on girls we've all got a grotty bra, no?!) then I don't care and just bung 'em on a 40 wash"Your life is what your thoughts make it"

I use a zip up pillow case (or rather my well trained OH does!) This was following an expensive repair to the washing machine when one of the underwires came out and blew the element. In the winter when we use the tumble drier the added bonus is he just unzips the dry pillow case and pours them straight into the draw!Right now I'm having amnesia and deja- vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before0

I wash mine at 40. They do wear out more quickly than if you handwash but then so do all clothes (washing is the worst thing you can do to clothes!). I also had an underwire come out and block machine. Fortunately my husband is good at washing machine repairs could be a 2nd career. He cursed and I did wash them in a laundry bags for a while.0

Its not just expensive, any underwired bras are dodgy in the washing machine. But hand washing is such a faff & never seems very through:o0 -
