I always wash mine in the machine, normally on a light or dark load depending on the rest of the wash!

Didn't know about the fabric conditioner though, so might start treating them differently!
  • I found handwashing eventually led to nasty 'sweaty' marks.
Marks and Spencers bras are machine washable and I manage to get my G cups really cheaply in the sales.
I do find the wires come out from time to time, really annoyingly on a brand new bra last month ! I've tried sewing them back in but they just break through the stitches so if it happens now the bra just goes in the bin. I should use a pillowcase to wash them in , it's a really good idea. I haven't had them break the machine yet but there's been a few near misses!

I've never handwashed a bra in three decades of wearing them and they still last fine (bit grey sometimes, but that's more about the odd rogue black sock). I really get angry that in these days of whizzy washing machines and busier people that shops have the gall to sell us ordinary stuff like bras that say handwash. In fact, when I'm in a shop and looking for new clothes it's one of the first things I look for - if tha label says handwash I put it straight back on the shelf. Life is far too short to stand with your elbows in suds every week....
  • I haven't used one but I thought these looked quite good for washing bras, perhaps I ought to invest in one!

Sorry - American site. Will try to find a UK retailer.

edit:  don't google "bra ball"! They don't seem to sell them here but that site has an international order page through amazon.

I keep a net bag in the washing bin, bras and thongs go straight into that as soon as they're taken off (well, alright, when I clear the floordrobe of washing next morning), and they get machine washed on a cool wash and slow spin.

Life's too short for hand washing!

Never wear them more than two days in a row. Then when you go to the loo, put the bra in with some biotex in a bucket of lukewarm water in the bath. When you next go to the loo rinse well (my sink is so tiny that I have to rinse bras under the bath tap) then hang over something to allow it to drip.

:o Actually, I think if it is a good make then it will probably survive all sorts!

If the wires poke through on my bras I put a blob of superglue on, seems to work better than stitching.

    I never hand wash ANYTHING!!
    Slightly bitter
  • I normally stick mine in the sleeve of a jumper to wash...life is too short to handwash and I refuse to put the machine on for just a few bras on a handwash cycle. I like the idea of the sock though and will experiment with this :)

Actually I did try handwashing the last time I bought some new bras but I didn't ever feel they were as clean as if I machine washed them and I must admit to only washing every other wear because they took 2 days to dry if I couldn't spin them. Which was ok if I took it off the minute I got home from work and I hadn't done anything too strenuous but not good as a practice!

I put 2 new bras in the wash & the wire came out of them, i`ve tried poking them back but can`t do it! Since then i`ve handwashed them, but will now try putting them in a sleeve or sock etc, thanks.
