Fabric softener decays the elastic, but I put them in a pillowcase and that stops anything from getting lost in the washing machine.

    I didn't realise this
What about if you're using white vinegar as a softener?
I usually do mine on a 30 or 40 degree wash with everything else, in a net bag, but don't tumble dry. Handwashing never used to get the deodorant marks off?

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Usually just toss them in the WM, but not in the TD. Don't have time for hand washing.

This happened to me a few weeks ago on my new TD. They don't cover this on the warranty so it cost me £61

I usually just bung mine in the WM. Is this why they are quite grey?

Hi do you wash your bra with similar colours which will stop it becoming grey. I have white and black bras and wash with similar colours...hth

I find sometimes that the wires become 'squeaky' when you machine wash bras. Has anyone else got this problem?

  • Having spent quite a lot of money on washer repair men for wires in machines I'd say - yes. I even had one whose wire managed to go through the net bag bought specifically for the purpose!

If you do hand wash and the white ones go grey - tip from Kim and Aggie use some net curtain whitener.

donny-gal - have you tried back extenders? You can get them from haberdashers or dept stores

I've always put mine in the machine. They last ages but I suppose it depends how often you wash them! I feel very scanky now though :rotfl: Also if the wires start showing I just sew the end up.
