I machine-wash mine, - just put it in a pillow case and tie a knot in the top of it. I know it's recommended to hand-wash bras but I have never done this. Maybe if it was a really nice, expensive bra from r&p I would..

I throw them in the washing machine with everything else. Never had one bent out of shape and never had one break or get damaged.

Oh that's a lie, I had an M&S bra that DID get out of shape after only a couple of months. I've never brought bras from M&S since, other brands are nicer and have never had that problem (La Senza, CK, Wonderbra etc.).

To try them I just hang them by a strap on the end of the drying rack. If they're in a load that gets tumbled, then they get tumbled. I never even realised you were supposed to do anything special with them.

I use one of these which I bought in wilkinsons for under a pound. The special bras shaped ones only fit bras up to a certain size and the trainer ones can accommodate much bigger bras.

I pop mine in a mesh bag and in the washer at 30 deg. I only air dry them as I have found its the tumble dryer that was ruining them.

I did used to wash my bras in the machine, but really the correct way is the one that Kim Woodburn (How Clean Is Your House) recommends and that is it is to be done by hand.

I now wash all my bras by hand and do not use the machine at all for them. I replaced my bras two weeks ago (went into M&S got measured up for free then went to Matalan and bought four bras for the price of their one from there :rotfl:). I use biological wash them, rinse, then add 1/3 of a capful of fabric conditioner to the final water and then rinse off my bras in there.

Big tip here, never leave your bras out in the sunshine too long especially in the summer. The strong sunlight causes the lace to go a yellowy colour and eventually the whole bra goes a strange shade of crappy cream. Put them on the line for an hour and fetch them in or as others have said put them on a clothes horse or dry flat.

I hand wash mine daily when in the shower. This way I never have a pile of lingerie waiting to be washed, saves time and water (I think) plus they won't take up a lot of space while drying. I used to stick bras in the washing machine, but I discovered this reduced their lifespan considerably as they would often be very tangled.

All my bras are from Victoria's Secret... so I don't fancy replacing them all so soon :p
  • My scaffolding costs £20 a time, no way would I put them in the washing machine. I put them in soak with some liquid soap. I have a very soft brush which I use to brush any bits that might be 'sweat stained' rinse in cool water and hang them on the bath taps to drip dry overnight. I find they keep much better handled this way, no wires popping out and digging in various bits of my anatomy.

Its the way the bra fitter told me to wash them when I got re-fitted about 3 years ago.

I have never put my bras in the washing machine after a friend had to call the repair man out to remove a wire which had lodged in the machine somewhere! I hate hand washing anything so I need lots of bras! Usually I wait until I am down to the last clean one and then sigh a lot as I wash them (which really only takes a few minutes!!)

Love the idea of washing them while you are in the shower - genius!

I dont spend a lot on undies nowadays, in fact my 2 sports bras are both so old and so well washed they are brown instead of black!! Good job I dont need much support I think.

If they are in a mesh bag the wire wont come out into the washing machines.
