Luc - found it - I promise to read it all from the beginning (probably tonight) but the cot-bed thing...

The clinicians that have had children have usually said things like "no use as either a cot or a bed"; those of a money saving persuasion have also added that you generally pay more for a cot-bed which can see you through to about 2/3 years but then you need to buy a normal sized single bed anyway, so you're better off getting a cot then a single bed and buying a guard-rail thingy.

My SIL had a cot-bed with her daughter and by 2 years old she was in a normal bed anyway, with her son as soon as he was finished with the cot, she put him straight into a single bed.

I'll check with those who've had children in the past couple of years what they did and how they got on and report back...

Thanks Cat. Is there a medical reason for them being "no use as either a cot or a bed"?

As for the MS side - I dad thought we'd save by getting a cot bed but if those with experience have learned otherwise I'm willing to learn from their experience;)

Don't worry about reading from the start - its just a lot of blather really:rotfl:

Trouble with a cot bed as well, is you have to buy specific bedding and then go and get single bed stuff when they move on. HTH

When mine were really small babies I had a moses basket with stand for them just at the side of the bed and as I was feeding them myself I didnt have to get out of bed to take them out of the basket (A godsend when you are so tired that you feel like a zombie but they want feeding every 3 hours) and I could also put my hand in to soothe them if they just wanted their dummy or a tuck of the covers.

I then moved onto a cot then a full size bed with the side guard.........they are now healthy teenage boys so I must have done something right:D
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

Hi HWGA, nice of you to drop by:p All going well here. Trying to conserve some energy for wedding reception at weekend, keep myself away from junk food (she says slurping away at a can of FULL FAT Coke:o ) and make myself appear busy at work as I've got pretty much nothing to do at the minute.

I indulged at lunch time and bought a pregnancy/baby's first year cook book by Annabel Karmel (who develps th menus at bean's prospective nursery - get me!:p ). Naughty but I am a self-confessed foodie....

I think we'll end up going with the crib/cotbed albeit just 'cos its cute (I have a thing for cartoon elephants:confused::p ) I'm sure that's allowed isn't it? I haven't found any medical reports condemning cotbeds:confused: (although if Cat comes up with something I may think again - there she is - sneaked in before me - thanks Cat:p)

Not much MSE activity to report. Will be able to work out in the next week or so how well the move the money straight away strategy has worked. I have spent on Egg card though so expect total debt to remain more or less the same, if not go up slightly. By using Egg rather than cash though I have effectively transferred debt to a lower interest rate (by some 10%) which I guess is progress of sorts.

Got a letter through confirming payrise so should have an extra £60ish a month to whittle away debts that teeny bit faster which is great. Hoping to clear HBoS O/D and maybe take chunk off a CC around Xmas time when my regular saver account matures. Will need to look at a balance transfer around then for PayPal card as 0% expires around then. Payrise and £60 from Gordon Brown will clear spend on Next card for maternity clothes (much needed!) this month with some change to cover the now necessary maternity jeans...

In other news Casper had his first bath with us on Sunday and Hubbles has the scars to prove it:p . Poor little mite didn't appreciate the getting wet and being shampooed although the brushing and drying afterwards seemed to go down quite well...

New mattress finally arrived - bliss! Made us realise how terrible the old one was and I've had the first proper night's sleep since I don't know when...

Looking forward to 20 week scan on Friday afternoon. Can't wait to see Bean again (although apparently more of a Soud these days:p ). Have been getting funny sensations in abdomen but not really sure if its Bean or indigestion so looking forward to when can feel kicks properly. Might settle some of the paranoia I've been suffering recently...

Anyway - back to the grind.

Feeling properly sorry for myself to day :(

To add to the lack of sleep owing to nightmares that Bean is deformed or dead I have contracted some kind of tummy upset that has kept me up all night.

I feel lonely cos I've been off work and my only interaction with a living being other than Casper was with a check out girl yesterday when I had to buy milk and catfood. I'm overtired and cranky and scared because of worrying all is not well with my baby and I feel ill and uncomfortable. Not a joyous time...

On the plus side, today will be a NSD I guess..

Sorry for the whiny ramble, will slope off to my corner and shut up now :o
