Does NatWest have an online banking service?

Yes. NatWest online banking is a free 24-hour banking service (excluding system updates).
    NatWest online banking key features:
    • view balance and recent transaction details
    • set up and pay bills
    • transfer money between your NatWest accounts instantly
    • order statements, chequebooks and paying-in books
    • 24-hour customer helpdesk
So it shouldn't be a problem. Good luck.

Unless Natwest has some bizarre restriction on personal accounts preventing BACS transfers, this is likely to be absolute nonsense, BACS is the standard procedure for transferring money between accounts, and as sloughflint posts above, will be used to pay bills via Natwest's on-line backing.

If you've got your bank account and sort code (and it's a standard current account), then you shouldn't need to do anything else.
Can't the KE account request the money via BACS from the Natwest account, that's how Icesave and other online accounts function...

I suggest you ask to talk to a manager or call into the branch

I can't see any point in the A&L.
Birmingham Midshires offer 6.5% with no withdrawal restrictions.
If you are more comfortable splitting your money between establishments, I'd go for KE and BM.

Anyone else read the disclaimer on Kaupthing Edge, I am a bit puzzled by it as I read it to say they can close down their web site at any time without letting on line customers know about it.
Now a bit worried about about opening an account with them.

I think that is quite common. Don't be too put off.

It will just be to cover themselves for any eventualities. There are many valid reasons why they may take the service down temporarily; for emergency/unplanned maintainance (eg for a bug fix), to protect the webservers against attack (could be hacking, denial of service, distributed denial of service) or maybe because they realise they've been compromised and they need to quickly close the door  - it does happen.

As Sloughflint says, not unusual and nothing I'm overly worried about. Am I worried about potential breakins? Sure, but it affects all online businesses and you either trust the technology or you don't.

Overall, I'm happy with KE. Go for it.
You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...

I've opened an account with K-E and so far everything's been smooth. For some reason, I'm baulking at moving susbstantial amounts of money there, though.

Perhaps it's because my only contact is through the ether, perhaps it's because of the slight disjointedness of things - different emails have slightly different URLs in (.co.uk, .com, kaupthingedge, kaupthing-edge, etc.); perhaps it's because when I forgot my password they asked me more questions than seemed necessary, then sent the temp. password in a plain text email.

How do I know I'm actually transferring my hard-earned cash to the right place, not some Russian mafiosi?

Actually, that didn't come across the way I'd intended, and for some reason I can't edit it... I wasn't trying to suggest that Kaupthingy were mafiosi!

I suppose it's just confidence that (1) I'm logging on to the real Kaupthing, though the Verisign SSL certificate says it is - can soemone confirm that the URL is 'online.kaupthingedge.co.uk'? (2) I suppose, that I'm logging into an account which is actually mine.

Normally I'm quite confident with internet finance, so I'm not sure what's set off these qualms...
