Morning !
Rockie - thanks for the info on polenta:T can I come to tea? your menu sounds delicious:drool:
raining here! was given a huge cauli on Friday so its cauliflower cheese with roasted butternut squash. sweet spuds etc for tea.
I've had soaked muesli and a slice of toast for brekky, we're off shopping soon so that should tide me over till lunchtime which will probably be my usual jacket spud and cottage cheese! nomnomnom:D
Good luck to anyone weighing in tomorrow!
have a nice day all!Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Well I survived making all the compoonents of the trifle without sampling everything but I did have 1 scoop of Mackie ice cream on a waffle cone which was gorgeous and takes ages to eat, much better than eating it in a bowl where 1 scoop looks mean!
Today its all about 1 meal, going to my friends later for a take away curry so I will only eat a timy bit of fruit or salad today so that I can eat without feeling guilty.
B: Apple and mango
L: NothingChickpea curry (not sure which one yet) coconut and mango trifle for pud
Have a great day all0 -

Agapanthus, thanks for all the good advice. To be honest I've never been able to drink much water, I usually mix it with apple or orange juice just for flavour. Is that bad?
Also, I am vegan so my diet does have a lot of carbs. I will try your other tips though.
I've never been keen on water either, but I'm gradually getting used to it. There are a lot of calories in juice, that's the problem!
I'm on holiday in France at the moment and there' a lot of wine flowing, so I'm trying to make myself drink a glass of water in between the glasses of wine. I think that's helping - although eating out here is going to do a lot of damage! Chew, chew, chew...:rotfl:
It's interesting to see how many vegetarians / vegans there are on this thread. I wonder if it's because there isn't so much protein in the veggie diet to help suppress the appetite? Hmmm...If we are supposed to be thin, why does chocolate exist?0 -
Yoo Hoo - anyone there:hello: It's very quiet here today. Just had to pop in to say I have made pastry :T - and if the jam tart I have just had is anything to go by - it is edible (a miracle):rotfl: :rotfl: I was given a tub of ricotta cheese and after finding a recipe for Spinach and Ricotta Quiche (I had spinach in the freezer doing nothing) - thought I would try making the pastry rather than buying it. Quiche just out of oven and looks yum:D
Am in a cooking mood and also have a yummy looking muesli and yog cake to try (in this months Sainsbugs mag) and some tomatoes that I might cook down into a sauce.
Rain has stopped here :T and we are having a really lazy day - not been outside yet.
Have a good afternoon all

Hya Folks
Well I am back!
You know I haven't been on here since May 7th! Both my weight loss and Grocery challenges have suffered...note to self must try harder and visit here every day!
I have really missed you lot, so much has been happening on here in the last 3 weeks!
I have worked through this new thread this morning...it would take the rest of the week to read through the old one to catch up! So what do I do with my weight loss (!) and target...just highlight it and flag it for toniwoty, a bit like we do with Mrs M on the GC thread?? Not sure if it is worth going for the M in M challenge, but I could always try and see how I lose in the last week. A little bit lost is better than nothing (or a gain!!!)
So:
toniwoty I have lost 0.4 pounds, not much I know, but it does give a nice round (VERY ROUND! :rotfl: !!) figure to my weight - 20 stone.
I am catching up with things round the house as I was away at the Chelsea Flower Show all day Friday and stayed with my sis in Slough on Friday night...we talked for AGES...getting to bed @ 5.15 am it was a nice sunrise!
So I have been listing contents of the fridge, freezerand cupboards so I can make a menu plan for the next few weeks...it always takes ages, but as it is tipping it down at the moment I can't get into the garden.
I am reasonably pleased I have not gained any weight as I have not been trying very hard both on the eating or exercise front...so I should lose lots once I up the exercise, at least that's the theory!!
Some of you are getting phenomenal weight losses..how do you manage to do it week in week out?? I REALLY have to get my head sorted...the menu plans should help.
I am off to write up my weekly menu plans now...I might go and take the plastic off my raised beds now so the soil can get damp with the rain. I plan on getting my seeds sown in the next day or two...late again! My tom plants in the green house look great...the first flowers have appeared!! I must buy my grow-bags...all 6 of them!
Hope you enjoy the rest of the bank holiday..damp as it is forecast to be!

Afternoon
I've just walked into town to pick up some bits so thats my 10k done for the day:dance:
Had coffee and a long chat with a friend I bumped into (no charge as I'd filled my costa card :money:)
Brunch was spinach bacon and chutney bagel
Dinner will be butternut squash stew with rice.
I'm off to read my boots mag  then clean bathroom and kitchen and make some fairy cakes with blue icing with little icing fish, for xOH's birthday- as cupcakes seem to be all the rage at the moment- and boy is my finger on the pulse
Have a good one0 -
Afternoon all
I had a very nice chinese meal out with OH last night. We had our usual dim sum and king prawns/ chashews with noodles. Only 1 bottle of wine between us, OH had soup but I didn'tand had 2 pints of cider, 1 before and 1 after meal. Could have been a lot worse :rotfl: . Haven't felt hungry all day today, only had a smoothie and 2 small slices of fruit loaf. Dinner will be pork chops, veg and mash. Am drinking lots of water so that's probably why I don't feel too hungry.
See you all tomorrow for a new week. Lets all have a good 'en0 -

I started to make pastry again when I worked out how much it cost to buy. I did a thread here somewhere a long time ago. Was going to check my figures, as I have been making pasties and quiches and wanted to work out how much they cost. I have done 5 cornish pasties this morning and some with vegi mince for Miss Ivy. Made the scraps into jam tarts and having trouble as I have to keep walking past them! Last night did a one crust pie. I did it as now he's on his own he doesn't get home baked stuff.... actually, don't think his wife was a baker at all. It was apple and blackberry. Have done an extra block of pastry for the freezer."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"
Trying not to waste food!:j

Hi All
Just got back from a shopping trip where OH bought me a new outfit. Much to my delight I managed to get a pair of black crop trousers and cream embroidered top from BHS petites - in a size 12. The trousers fasten but are a bit too tight but will now act as an added incentive to keep going. I also bought a brown jersey top which is a size 10 (they didn't have any 12's so I tried a 10 and it looked great as it needs to be snug round the bust area anyway). I also want the mirror they had at the end of the changing room - which made me look inches slimmer and inches taller. The ones in the cubicle weren't very flattering but the one at the end was fantastic. More incentive to try and actually look like that.
Having said that, I was actually a bit of a pig yesterday. OH took me out for lunch and I had a bacon sandwich and then in the evening when he was out working I succumbed to a walk up to the chip shop and had a bag of chips. Definitely my worst day for calories for a very long time. To add insult to injury I hardly got any walking in either.
It's probably not going to be easy sticking to a low intake this week as I've got my Mother coming to stay who likes to treat me to lunch out at least once. Then on Thursday we are off on our mini-cruise for Bruges and have booked a breakfast and a big meal in the evening for the Friday. I shall do my best however, and then maybe try to stick to 1200 a day next week.
I've got DS and DDinL2B coming for a meal shortly so having been making one of their favourites. I did miss out lunch being too busy shopping so should be ok for today.
B: Muesli mixed with Just Right, skimmed milk, raisins.
L: noneCheese, bacon and mushroom pie with green beans and butternut squash. Raspberries with Greek yoghurt.
Snack: Orange.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.

Evening folks :hello:
Just about thawed out from our day in Buxton, the rain held off but I was frozen to the bone, and this cold didn't help, my nose is running like a tap and is bright red:rudolf:
We had a nice day,:D huddled on a bench to eat our picnic, kids played in the play area, we went on the miniature train, had an ice cream despite the cold!
They both fell asleep on the way back which was niceand as I carried GS in praising him to Mum that he'd had dry pants all day ...................he weed on me  t-shirt, jacket, bag and jeans all caught it! so I had to come home wet and smelly
My tea was delicious * passes plate to taplady * I made a chill/tomato sauce and a mint raita to go with the aubergines - very tasty
I've not had any pud - too full but I might have a yoghurt or some fruit later.
I've still got half a bottle of wine in the fridge from Friday but not sure if it's a good idea with paracetamol so I might have to freeze it
Nice lie in tomorrow I hope, then some housework. See you later folks :A
Sorry Fogga!!!!
