  • Yay pigpen, well done you!!:T

Was very tempted to weigh myself this morning.... had one of those wonderful but all too rare mornings where I just woke up feeling thinner somehow. Keeping the moment of truth until Monday though..... been to the hairdressers this afternoon so that must be an extra ounce or two and every little helps as Mr T says... or is it Mr S..??!! Also doing a sponsored walk tomorrow in aid of the local hospice which took such good care of a favourite uncle of mine and a friend's mum.....10 miles:eek: which should result in ooooh a good stone or two I would have thought:D treating ourselves to lunch in the pub after, or tea or maybe supper depending how long we take...:p

Glad your feeling more positive frogga, you keep it that way mate!

    Enjoy the weekend everyone!

    Hi all!

I joined up on the last thread, and then fell off the wagon..

However, we saw the spinal specialist yesterday, and they said my prolapsed discs aren't prolapsed, its degenerative disc disease, and at my age they wont do much (discs of a 70 year old at 23, its enough to make you weep, and trust me, it did  ) cos it costs a fortune.

So after much cursing of the NHS, (not to their faces, they're just people doing their job without enough resources  ) I've taken their advice to lose some weight, and I joined Yoga last night (core stability exercise is good for discs, it seems :) ) and joined the community leisure centre on a month on month membership.

    So...

Tonight is veggie stirfry, medium noodles, non-stick wok so just a wipe of oil

    Sunday:

    B'fast: Melon
    Lunch: Small cheese sandwich
Tea: Roast chicken breast, carrots, cabbage, peas, new pots and green beans

    Monday:

    B'fast: Cereal bar
    Lunch: Cheese salad sandwich
Tea: Away with work, something salady I hope

    Tuesday:

    B'fast: Toast, bacon
Lunch: Working buffet, stick to sandwiches and fruit
    Tea: Something on toast, perhaps?

    Wednesday: (Yoga tonight)
    B'fast: Cereal bar
    Lunch: Sandwich, l/f crisps, nectarine
Tea: Ham salad, new pots, spicy couscous

    Thursday:

    B'fast: Cereal bar
    Lunch: Spicy couscous, fruit
Tea: Greek chicken, pittas, tzadziki, salad

    Friday: (Yoga tonight)

    B'fast: Fruit
    Lunch: Ham salad, walnut dressing
Tea: Spicy tomato and chicken pasta

I'll let you know how I get on! Need to cut back on the alcohol too, the empty calories are huge. So stocked up on tonic water and soda water (I love Lime and Soda) to help.

Will read the rest of the thread for recipes and inspiration now!! Also, if anyone can see where I can do better in my menu, please just post or PM me, all advice gratefully received! :o

    Good luck everyone! :T

    Evening all,

Have been busy all day, shopping and collecting DD2 and Co from airport, then more shopping and just now a few minutes of peace!

    To day I ate:
    B. 2 wheetabix, banana, handful of strawberries, some mango, slice of melon, cup of tea;
    Lunch...2 slices bread and butter, chocolate wholemeal biscuit, coffee;

    Dinner....mackerel, peas, potatoes.
    4 chocolate covered macadamias.

    Have a good evening all

Frogga - I only had one job since leaving University 25 years ago! I got made redundant nearly two years ago and have been living on my redundancy money ever since because I am too scared to apply for anything else, but I will have to soon! I know what you mean about change......

RS, in my time I've done a fair amount of interviewing job applicants. As often as not, the quality of some of the applicants was awful! When it comes down to it, the interviewers are under pressure to appoint somebody - it just depends whether you're the best out of the bunch that presented themselves that particular day. So apply. If you don't get an interview, or if you do and you aren't appointed then don't take it personally. Apply for something else and you will get a job sooner or later. Employers are desperate to find anybody competent, so if you are, you'll get a job quite quickly. The employers are the ones who are desperate, not you!
