I didn't know about ACE inhibitors and cholesterol/trig levels - I thought that they put people with heart conditions on ACE inhibitors because they were supposed to be good for the heart!

They say that oats are very good for lowering cholesterol and also those Flora pro-Active drink thingies, but TBH if you are on a statin, that should kick in pretty quickly and help to lower things down. Don't get too wound up about it because stress can also increase cholesterol levels! Also smoking can increase them too I was told.

Thanks for the info. will have a look at the site.
Re ACE Yes Dr told me they were good when he first put me on them years ago, but like I said, one site tells you one thing then another tells you the complete opposite:mad::confused:
Dr in Spain has put me on 80gr of Statins which I think is very high, so levels should come down overnight...I wish But it's the Trig levels that concern me most....
Luckily I'm not a smoker, although when I lived with my parents until age 20 I was a passive smoker, as they were like chimneys, so I suppose those efects might be coming out now.
Ah well, just off to have another cup of green tea

Sandy - my DH is on 40 mg statins a day and an ace inhibitor as well as various other pills after heart surgery. 80mg does seem high.

I think frogga's toad has been visiting me latety - lots of snacking:mad: and its weigh in tonight, first in 2 weeks due to work so am expecting a gain:rolleyes: need to find some motivation from somewhere to stop me putting it all back on again!

Am working most of the day catering for a funeral tea so it s hard to do any planning for my own food.

Hope you all have a good day!

    Morning all.

Have discovered that no money means no nasty snackies :o And I wasn't even hugely hungry yesterday even without the snacks. So maybe I should spend all my food budget in the first 2 days after payday and then I can't snack on stuff I shouldn't

    Food today:
Soaked oats, raisins, chopped nana and maple syrup (only a drizzle left :()
Lunch: Tuna sweetcorn baguette (part bake bread packet)
    Tea: Ham omelette

Snacks - some 69p grapes from Aldi.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Morning all,

Floyd...try ginger in some form, even a ginger nut biscuit...I always have some for when the reflux hits...unfortunately porridge sometimes does it to me.

Have just had a cup of coffee so far, but OH is working on egg salad sandwiches so that will be brunch, will have a pear too and some stewed gooseberries with a bit of natural yogurt.

Dinner will, I think be carbonara with steak for OH on the side, he is such a pain sometimes food wise, will allegedly eat anything but will then 'not fancy' something he loves last week .....

    Have a good day all

    Morning peeps
I just lost all my post ‘cause I accidentally hit the side of this new mouse and got sent back to login!
So here we go again, written in word and cut and pasted onto the thread as I don’t trust myself with this rodent! Have decided to go back to childhood and bought a Shaun the Sheep backpack on ebay to go on the middle seat in my Landy. For some unknown reason there’s nowhere to put things like glasses cases etc unless you lose the seat and have a cubby box instead. DH is going to be thrilled driving with ‘him’ as co-pilot, that’s teach him to drive my car:rotfl: :rotfl: . Think I'll also rename the car from Sally to Shaun :D .
DD has agreed with me about not losing much more weight or else I’ll need clothes pegs to hold up the old facial skin:eek: ! After eating more for a couple of days I’ve drifted back to the usual healthy eating routine I’ve been on this past year so heaven knows what the scales will say. Maintaining has always been a major problem, always up in the past. Is this really me typing this?
I hope you will soon be feeling better RS and that the builder finally turned up. I’ve been waiting a week for the plumber and in the meantime have washing machine taps dripping and the kitchen taps held in the off position with bungee rope, great.
Frogga you are doing great and we’ll all keep quiet about where your pond is, promise.
My MIL and SIL have recently joined SW and my poor MIL was quite despondent yesterday as she’s followed the diet to the letter and not lost anything. I’ve printed off the ‘Ultimate Weight Loss Guide’ from the link you posted Nixy, in the hope it will help her. If only she had access to you lovely peeps. She’s in need of a hip replacement and is my FIL’s carer, he has Parkinson’s, so is very restricted with the exercise she can do.
Sorry to hear that blasted toad has been doing the rounds, we all need virtual tennis rackets to send him packing. Our junior could have hours of virtual fun chasing him from one racket to the other, woof.
    Have a great day all.
    Suz

  • Hello everyone - as expected I had a gain today at WI - 3lbs, which could have been worse given what I had eaten over the weekend, and it is TOTM so that won't have helped.

I am back on it today though and feel better already lol!

Food so far has been 2 weetabix with a small banana and activia fat free yoghurt.

Don't know about lunch because I am not that hungry at the moment but I have got some prawns and salad in.

Hope you are all having a good day - still no sign of my builder:mad:

Floyd - I agree with Marie about the ginger - it is usually quite good, but mostly you just have to wait for the acid to subside once you have got back into a more healthy eating routine. I get acid really badly if I pig out, and it is always worse at night.

    Morning all!

    Today:
B: 1 slice toast, few plum tomatoes
    S: 2 satsumas
    L: hm noodles and veggies
S: can of diet coke (!)
D: chicken and broccoli lattice thing, rice and veg

Have had some good work news, in that i'm being promoted - but also keeping my current job... so lots of extra work. Which equals more money, less time to think about food and less time on here, alas. Hoping it'll all be good though! Have a lovely day everyone xx
