Evening ladies.
Haven't posted for a while because I have been a bit naughty over the weekend
Had lunch at a friend's house on Saturday and ate like a pig. Then Saturday evening we went to an all-you-can-eat buffet place. On Sunday we were at another friend's house and I pigged out again and last night I went out for a curry
So, it's get back on track tomorrow for me otherwise I will have completely wasted the good work I've done in the last few weeks.
I need a good kick up the bottom, I do.0 -
Hello folks :hello:
Back to work today, busy, busy, busy  Not even had time to post
Polenta and poached eggs for brekkie, HM waldorf type pasta salad thingy for lunch, fruit for snacks and I've just had quorn lime and chill dippers with lime and coriander rice
Despite not being hungry last night I fell into the cake tin:eek: and consumed several mini muffins  that bl**dy toad:mad: I thought we'd sent him packing:mad:
I've been for a swim at lunchtime so have had some exercise.
RS - hope you feel better soon
Cranky - Sympathies, my Dad was an alkie (long since deceased) and then I went and married one:wall: Al-anon is good.
As for nettles  my allotment is full of them but I draw the line at eating them and thank god I'm veggie.........pigs bits.......YUK YUK YUK!!!!!0 -
Cheers Rockie. My dad doesn't actually think he has a problem. He couldn't understand why the doctor said he should cut down as he didn't think 4 pints a day was excessive! He also doesn't understand why none of us want beer at 11am in the airport bar if we go anywhere. On the plus side, he lives in London and I live on Merseyside, so it doesn't cause too much grief any more.0

Evening everyone,
not been on for a few days coz we've had some problems with internet. Anyway had a totally disasterous wk - ate too much rubbish, did no exercise, spent too much money etc... - so decided not to get weighed this wk. I know i've gained so just wanna get my bum back in gear and start a fresh this wk. I re joined tesco diets to help me stay motivated. Was gonna go to sw till i found out the closest class to me was in the next town n i dont drive. People please feel free to give me a well needed and deserved kick up the bum.
Been finding exercise a bit hard lately, its not that i dont want to do it i just havent seemed to have the time. So to help (hopefully) i've bought an exercise dvd called 10minute solutions (cardio one) and it's brill. So while my little one is having breakfast or lunch in his highchair i can just stick it on and literally sweat of my fat.

Thanks ME and Recovering Spendaholic. I've just started a diary of the food I've eaten and will start a meal plan tomorrow, after more research on the web. It's all contradictory tho with diets, if one lot are good for your heart, then it raises your sugar level, If you stay low fat, quite often the taste factor is made up with sugar, Atkins sounds good because it's low carb (which I need) but has all that protein, dairy and fat (which I wouldn't have minded before my test results) which I need to avoid. trawling thro the websites there are all sorts of adverts for supplements promising they can reduce Chloresterol and high Trig levels, but they certainly don't seem to be money saving. Still I suppose it's a dilema that most would be dieters face.... One thing I seem to be able to have with no adverse effects on carbs/sugars is Green tea, I've always had earl grey with lemon and no milk so switching to green is no problem, Also have started to make it more dilute to drink cold during the day instead of juices. One of the things I have discovered today is that any of the blood pressure lower pills of the ACE variety increase trig levels, so that could be a contributory factor to mine being raised.
I also came across this quote, on hhttp://www.thevitamindcure.com/blog/
which might become my mantra
Remember the Yellowstone Park of Thumb.” Wild animals do not eat dairy but from their mother’s breast as a yearling. Wild animals do not eat grain or legumes. Wild animals exercise every day. And, wild animals do not get high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease.0 -

Thanks for the above, do you have any more info on values like these please or a link

Floyd, there's always an exception and perhaps bank voles don't occur in Yellowstone;)0 -

Hope it helps!
I didn't know about ACE inhibitors and cholesterol/trig levels - I thought that they put people with heart conditions on ACE inhibitors because they were supposed to be good for the heart!
They say that oats are very good for lowering cholesterol and also those Flora pro-Active drink thingies, but TBH if you are on a statin, that should kick in pretty quickly and help to lower things down. Don't get too wound up about it because stress can also increase cholesterol levels! Also smoking can increase them too I was told.Jane
