  • Hello everyone - its half past midnight and I have just finished a marathon baking session for the Summer Fair at DD2's primary school tomorrow. I made three dozen cupcakes (chocolate, strawberry and vanilla/cherry), three dozen flapjacks, an apple crumble, a summer fruits muffin cake and an apple and cinnamon streusel loaf. The amazing thing is that I didn't even have a tiny taste of anything, which, if you knew me, is nothing short of a miracle. I am enjoying this SW online thing and don't want to break it at all - I feel more determined than I have for a long time.

DD2 made a cake herself for the juniors cake competition and it took her all day! The house looked like an explosion in a flour factory after she had finished but she was so pleased with it, and I have to day that she has done a great job for a 10 year old's first effort. I have tried to upload the picture here, but don't know if it will work:

Food today has been good and really nice too!

    Breakfast - 2 bananas
Lunch - hm chicken and vegetable soup, small wholemeal roll with home boiled ham and laughing cow light triangle. Nectarine and a few cherries.
Dinner - sirloin steak with stir "fry" mushrooms, courgettes, onions and sugar snap peas, small jacket potato with natural yoghurt and chives instead of butter.

Hope you are all okay - (((hugs))) to those in need.

Wow Recovering spendaholic, your daughters cake is amazing, I couldn't do that now and 10 was a good few years ago :rotfl: .

Right I'm drawing a line under this month - my weight loss goal has resulted in a weightloss gain, I'm out and about in the big smoke tomorrow, so will limit the damage as best I can  . Shiny new month on July, maybe if we can have a few days of sunshine I can keep my nose out of the trough

So it Just do it in July for me!

    Morning all,

Well I am much more positive today about food after spending all day making a big vat of veg broth and a big pan of leek and potato with low fat milk. Plus I discover a large basket of new potatoes, peas, turnip and kohlrabi on my doorstep from FIL s if anyone has any lovely ideas for the kohlrabi I would love to hear them :)

So todays food is fairly well planned out (ish)

B: Nothing, lie in for me
L: Probably halloumi and salad in some wholewheat baguette
D: Roast chicken with mashed sweet potato and other veg

Snacks, not really sure, might have a glass of sweetened iced tea

And RS and Frogga - wowzers, talented kids indeed, I'm completely impressed :T

Just done Race For Life 5k this morning - did it with a friend who is not supposed to be walking, let alone running - she's due 3 sessions of traction next week for a displaced hip thingie - but her old rugby coach died this year from cancer and she was determined to get round the course in memory of her. Anyway we managed it in 44 minutes which would normally be a rubbish time but my friend did so well. Me being a bit of a softie kept filling up reading all the dedications on peoples' backs - if you've never had anything to do with Race For Life most people say who they are running for - and there were women there who had photos of their husbands, mothers, sisters, children - all who they had lost to cancer. Honestly, I kept having to put my sunglasses on because I was a bit wobbly lipped. The youngest girl there doing it was 4 and she was running it for herself as she has cancer. It was a wonderful atmosphere though. Sounds a bit mad but as I was trogging along I said a little prayer for MrsM and her family, I hope she's doing ok.

Next year I think we should all sign up. There were hundreds of women who were walking it and having a fabulous time. I figure this is one way that all of us on here can actually take part in something that doesn't depend on geographical closeness or how fit we all are, it's simply can we commit to taking a walk on a Sunday morning together. I'll poke you all in 11 months time, it would be nice to think of you lot plodding away at the same time I am

Right guys, have a wonderful weekend and here's hoping July is Just Bluddy Brilliant!

    xx

Oh my target for July is a measly 2lbs - but I think that might be pushing it a bit as I am away on holiday in 2 weeks time and determined to enjoy myself - so if i can get to end of July and still be 147 I'll be happy, 2lb would be a bonus xx

Will try and catch up now but theres so many posts! You've all been so busy.

    Will pop by soon.

  • Well done on the loss heavenfire! Nix - well done on doing the Race for Life - you can count me in for next year - I am determined to do it, even if I have to half walk/half run.

DD2 won first prize with her cake so she is over the moon. She got to bring it home too, which is great for her but not so great for me as it's temptation... However I have resisted thus far and don't want to give in.

Has anyone heard from Mrs M at all?
