Hi RedRuby - (((Hugs))) to your friend; I would be exactly the same if my sons wanted to move so far away. We have a place in France (a very dilapidated old house which we are doing up very slowly). We bought it with the intention of moving over there a couple of years ago. DH is longing to go but I just can't do it. I can't bear the thought of leaving the children and grandchildren behind and France is nowhere near as far as Australia. I know that one day they may move abroad themselves but I know they would not go so far away. I really feel for your friend and can fully understand how it is affecting her. I know you can't stop your children doing things like this; after all, we all want what's best for them and want them to be happy but this must be tearing her up. Please give her a big (((hug))) from me.

Thanks Kathy,
I have just spoken to her on the phone, she has been to the Dr this morning, who had given her some anti- depresants, and told her to put herself first for once, she and her hubby are coming round for a drinkie on saturday  , so we will have a good chat then, I know what you mean about children moving so far away, it would be terribly hard, I would hate it if it were my DD, ( got a few years yet though she is only 13)

Hmm, I think I've just been a bit rude. My visitor has text me saying he's running late and won't be here until half four. I sort of hinted that he couldn't stay later than six really. We have to sort out the LO's bath and bed as well as feeding everyone (and I only found out he was coming this morning so I've nothing pre-prepared). Do you think he'll be offended?Taking baby-steps :beer:0

If he is then its his own fault, the baby's and family have to come first xx0 -
I knew him as a student so I think he's forgetting that life's not so flexible now. OH is going to buy a pizza for us though so it will lighten my load a little!Taking baby-steps :beer:0

Candygirl (((hugs))) to your Dad, my friend has been diagnosed with the same 2 cancers.
PC is now fully up and running, it was AOL's fault although they wouldnt admit it as my lovely PC man has seen about 10 customers with the same thing since Friday.
Found out today our van that broke down is fully kaput so someone is looking at it to take it as it is and we have had no option but to order a new one, good thing in the long run, tax will be 50% less and will be much more fuel efficient.
Off in a min to make a start on dinner, then DD has appointment down the docs.0 -
Hi everyone,
Redruby tell your friend that my DS1 moved to Australia in 2000 which was also very hard as we are a close family. We keep in touch be emails and skype over the internet where we have a web cam (cost about £20) so that we can see each other which is fantastic. The world is a much smaller place these days apart from the time getting there the fares to Australia arn't as expensive as you think (anywhere from £500 to £700) and if they could stay with their son it wouldn't be toooo expensive an holiday.
It is very hard being a parent and letting go but I can honestly say that my son does not regret moving to Austrlia and has a far better way of life then he did when he was here. We think of him all the time but are happy knowing that he is happy.
Hugs to everyone0
